Basically this. if you want you can experiment with changing the type of fishmeal so White Fish Meal / anchovy etc with some Pre Digested.
Tbh i didnt notice much difference with or without PD the CLO makes more of a difference to the texture

I've recently received a 25kg sack from BAF Germany. I've never made my own bait before and I've rolled six 1kg batches but I've not had the opportunity to fish yet. I hope it's ok when I do.

thanks everyone for your replies, there's definitely some food for thought there (excuse the pun). and some recipes that I like the look of trying once I've got the hang getting the consistency and rolling right. just doing 1kg batches at a time for now until I fully know how I want them, trial and error. thanks again everyone for your help 👍👍

I started my bait making with a simple recipe much like dickweed's - minus the fenugreek and garlic. Caught plenty on it. Then I decided to get fancy and add loads of stuff at small quantities which, as far as I could tell, made pretty much no discernible difference at all except it was more expensive. In the end I settled on this as an all-round base;
30% LT94 fishmeal
10% Pre-digested fishmeal (I'm not convinced this doesn't wash out whilst boiling though)
20% CLO
20% Semolina
10% Lamlac
the last 10 % is for additives such as blood powder (I'd cap blood powder at 5%), paprika, fenugreek etc
It rolls well, it is easy to mix, it is cheap, and will definitely catch carp if you stick it in the right place.
Once you get an appreciation of how ingredients affect the finished boilie you'll discover ingredients which change the texture etc. Once you've learned this, you can start to deviate from a simple recipe for SPECIFIC purposes - For example, if you wanted a bait with a more rubbery texture you could substitute the semolina for soya flour (or vice versa I can't remember) in the above example recipe. If you wanted a harder bait, substitute some of the binder for egg albumen, blood powder etc
