Thanks for the replies . Probably not missing much then . Whilst the stove performance is not too bad I thought I might get more out of the Coleman canisters . Reading other threads it would seem it might be more to do with the make of cannister . Various other canisters seem highly recommended but are quite a bit more expensive than the Coleman., thanks .

I use the ridgemonkey plug in heated cover and it works a treat! As for a standard one dont bother as everyone else has said !

I have the Fox one and yeah works great. Love the fact it had a lighter holder also.

I've got a cheap cover cost me about a fiver. I recon that work. I use the Coleman gas and think the cover helps a lot

It can't help. As the liquid turns to a gas, energy is taken in from the surrounding atmosphere (google latent heat of vapourisation). Insulating the cylinder won't help, warming it somehow most definitely does.

Yep and the ridgemonkey one works perfect. Long as you remember to turn it off after use. I can drain cans even in the winter now.

I use the Coleman gas canisters and find especially this time of year that I can never get the last of the gas out . I know others use different make canisters and are more successful in getting every last drop out . I do find however that these are quite a bit more expensive so stick with the Coleman - I always manage somehow to get the last out 🤣 the usb heated ones seem an interesting alternative for the winter months. Would one of these enable me to run the Coleman canisters dry ? Do these heated ones need turning on before to pre-heat if you like , thanks ?
