Another thumbs up for the Frontier X here. I won mine from an online competition site so have no need to justify laying out any cash and can honestly say it's a cracking piece of kit. It's well built from decent materials, goes up and comes down easily and quickly, has plenty of vents windows etc, nice touches with the inner pockets and flap in the groundsheet. Not sure what else you'd really want from a bivvy.

When I saw the x in the store and the door height/inside height was higher than expected I immediately decided to sell my Xd for the X.
Because I found the Xd too high inside especially for winter fishing and I always lie on my bed so there was at least 20 cm of unnecessary height + I'm 173 myself and had some trouble spreading the Xd (a lot easier with the x)
When I saw the x in the store and the door height/inside height was higher than expected I immediately decided to sell my Xd for the X.

My back is killing me after my work accident, the x does not bother me because there is less pressure on my lower back when setting up compared with the Xd.

A very good bivvy design and is probably one of the best Chinese manfactured bivvies i've ever used and seen. The material was a big let down for me unfortunately. I experienced the most severe water ingress and condensation drip on my second night of using, which was alarming for the price point. Fox also accepted there was a fault with the material and issued a replacement to the retailer, having seen my photos.
I decided to receive a refund for the bivvy, and now I wish to have given the replacement a try, having read the great reviews on here!

This is a first for this forum. Actual users giving their honest opinion. No one claiming that their mates dog had one and its rubbish cause the fabric ripped and tore a hole in the fabric of time and ended a parallel universe

My mates German Shepard had one and found it a bit ruff. With the extra height and letterbox door his balls dangled on the floor and ears hit the vapour shield.

You'll have no problem with the ss4, my mate has an Nash wide boy in his with room to spare,

The only fault I'd say with my XD like Andy says is that it weighs a ton. I keep everything in the bag, overwrap, the million pegs you get, infills, mozzi panel, peak etc. Weighs a ton. I really wouldn't want to lug it about without a power barrow and I don't use it for less than 3 days. It's a good sized one man IMO with a decent amount of space for storage. But if it was lighter then the material wouldn't be as good or there would be compromises elsewhere. I'm 6-2 and I can just about reach the block. I'm also liking the camo version more and more lately but I remember how fox buggered the colour match up on my last brolly between the brolly and the extension so i'll stick with what I have.

Got my frontier X from parkfield angling 3 months ago for £499. Added vapour peak and paid £570.
Im very happy with it so far after 8 x 2 night sessions. Not had much rain on it yet though.
Easy to set up and take down. The 4 windows on it are great in hot weather and for letting in light as its dark inside. Material is quality, feels much better than any of the Trakker bivvies.

I dont carry the ground sheet as i dont use them, i also took out half the pegs as they supply enough to peg it down twice over. That's reduced the bivvy bag weight a couple of kilos at least.

I've had one since about April time (have done about 23 nights in it) after selling my tempest I absolutely love it and don't have complaints, a few have said it weighs a ton yeah it is heavy but nothing to bad I can lift with one arm and carry it fine, I don't have a electric barrow and don't struggle getting it round the full length of the lake. Just put the heavier end over the wheel and it actually helps with the barrow pushing itself.
I take everything with it but I'll be honest I don't bother using the groundsheet if I'm doing 48hrs I only put it on if I'm doing 72hrs+
Goes up very quick and is very spacious I genuinely wouldn't think about getting anything else for what I want I love mine
