Hilti only on my four work vans I've got 22v cordless rotary hammer drills, 5" cordless grinders, impact wrenches, impact drivers,drill drivers all on 8ah Li-ion batteries 4 batteries on each van and they can run their tools all day and not need to charge anything up during their day on site they just drop them on the battery bank in the unit overnight.
Any problems, which there rarely is you get two years warranty on all tools book them in online early in the day collected same day/next day at the latest and back within two days fixed and looking like new, I swear they have on occasions just replaced the tools with new ones, you pay a bit more for Hilti tools but you get what you pay for, had 110v Hilti tools that are five or more years old and get hammered on a daily basis on site work and have never been back for a service let alone repair, moved over to battery tools the last few years now most sites are wanting to be cordless by end of this year/next and the performance of Hilti's battery tools are as good as their corded tools.
Had everything from Makita to Fein over the years it just doesn't compare or last.

Hilti are the most overrated,overpriced of the lot!! I have the misfortune of having a load of their kit on my van . There's a reason why theres less and less of it on site these days. You're right though they do just replace rather than repair. Mainly because they have sod all staff in their workshop anymore, plus can't get part for their own kit

Doesn't matter if they repair or replace it's still turned around in a few days and two years warranty as standard 12 months with anything else I've ever had, had the same great service from Hilti for the last 20 odd years, I've got on average six or seven of their tools on all my vans close to 30 tools doing onsite work day in day out and I can hand on heart say I get probably 2 or 3 breakdowns a year I'll pay the premium for the tool and service, I've had Makita Milwaukee and everything in between over the last 35 years there ok for a few months and then they either pack up, burn out or the batteries get tired within a few months of daily charging with less than average run times sticking them on charge every half an hour, you'd be lucky to get it back in the same month when sent back on warranty repair.

Youve been lucky then. I've got 7 bits that I can think of on my van currently,and we've a yard full of other kit too. We get very regular breakdowns. My boss was a hilti rep and gets a good deal from them or we wouldn't use them . Funny you mention Milwaukee as they are basically the same! They are literally the same designs! Credit where it's due their breakers are pretty decent although their havs timings leave a lot to be desired. The new te1000avr they reckon you can use for 8 hours in a day without reaching elv. An example of how garbage some of the kit is. The new 9 inch angle grinder I can use one handed and make it bog down and stop whilst cutting concrete. The older ,decent model of theirs would take your head clean off if you tried that. Plus they've fitted slow start. Who in earth wants slow start on a disc cutter?! And those cutters are over £400 ! For a poxy angle grinder! Robbing *******s even charge you an extra £180 for a guard for it too!!
Tbh we don't use battery kit though, it wouldn't last 5 minutes doing what we do

Horrific noise and I can't help but chuckle watching people ‘adjusting' Blum hinges. Which is essentially going from one extreme of adjustment to the other and breaking the mounting plate
Not sure Hilti really fits the original brief of a cheap drill.
I use dewalt tools and have a router that's used pretty much daily that's 15 years old and still as good as new, mechanically.. it's sort of mustard colour now. I use high consumption battery tools all day every day and the 18 and 54 have been spot on as have the tool bodies.
Makita stuff doesn't hold up the same.

I lost faith in hilti when I put a skill saw in for repair and they wanted £160 to sort out a slippy depth adjustor, then a month later said they couldn't get the part and offered a new one at full retail price
Ive used one of the festool power bank jobbies recently, bloody brilliant when there's no power, was using tools all day and even boiling the kettle
That's what you want for fishing, take the kettle, microwave and electric blanket with you
I think the only brands I haven't had issues with are festool and elu, I'm sure one of the festool tools will pack up eventually and I'll find out what the customer support is really like but I'm told it's very good.
When the elu tools pack up I'll give em a funeral they've been with me so long

Really? Why would you want the soft start? Of all the grinders I've used over the years the poxy hilti thing is the only one with soft start. Slows me down far too much

As I say, I don't use them much, but the way they pull about when you turn them on for that initial second I've never liked. And since I don't get that kick with anything else it makes it worse when I use a grinder without the soft start.
But I'm generally working with a lot of care, and I'm used to waiting for tools to get to speed, my plunge saw tracks being 10 years old and not having the usual half moon gouges are the proof of that

Ah right fair enough. Totally different for me, I use them a lot, and far bigger than the standard 9 inch too. (450mm diameter is the biggest hand saw I use). Need plenty of grunt or they won't do anything. I'm a hamfisted oaf when it comes to 20mm screws and delicate timber lol

I have been weighing up getting one of the hilti sds drills with the new safety clutch, all the others I've had have kicked in way too soon, have you used any of them?

Only the newest sds max one mate, my sds plus is an older te30. The max isn't all that good, the clutch slips too easily for my liking.

Ah ok mate, there must be some regulation on the things I guess, but it's so frustrating when they seize up with hardly any pressure. My bosch diamond drill from the mid 90s has a great clutch, only kicks in when it's needed. Mind you it'd probably snap your wrists if you were careless with it

Even those 36v Bosch sds drills aren't the same as they were with inferior battery tech.

Diamond drills have proper clutches thankfully (my job) ,but yeah the sds drills arent all that these days.

I will add I only buy Hilti for the work tools on the vans and replace every two years as they do get hammered and earned there money in that time anyway so never without warranty , my tools at home are a mixture of makes t only get used occasionally the only one that will not die is a drill driver from dewalt which has had some hammer over the years.
