A bigger splay would be more helpful to lower the centre of gravity.
I've cut the centre pole off my camera tripod for the same reason so I can take low shots of fungi in the autumn which is essentiallialy what these tripod pods do or should do a little more. I do like them though (maybe with a little more tweaks). bit different to the UK norm.
Still look an interesting proposition though IMO

Hi Neil,
Spent 2 decades fishing Eastern Europe and originally my fox quatro and later my fox ranger were regularly laughed at.
Tripods are are by far the most versatile pod systems there are, can't think of any situation they won't cope with or excell at.
Why I never bought one I don't know
Don't understand the low tip comments over any other system and why they aren't "fashionable" in the UK also bemuses me

Sadly I dont have any pictures of it anymore (hard drive died)
but for a couple of years fishing in Europe I used a rock solid Amiaud Peche Carpo tri pod it cost a lot of money the total with the curved 4 rod bars was around 850 Euros at the time but you could have the rods at ANY angle from pointing down to vertical and it was totally rock solid
here is a video of one skip ahead to the end to see what it looks like fantastic bit of kit I have also owned and used a Solar world wide with the global extension kit thats a great bit of kit too but not as good IMO

I might have to take a punt depending on the shipping/import costs post brexit with the kk tripod, seems low profile enough to blend in and I do like the idea of a tripod.
The Amiaud Peche looks a bit too big and brash for me and the chap in the vid made a right pigs ear of putting it together
Sure its great when its up on mainland european inland seas though but would look a bit odd in small tight swims I think.

this is my Solar worldwide with the global extension kit on a lake in France I was fishing a spot at about 180yards this is the only bank you can fish and in front was a massive weed bed the gravel bar area was the hotspot but you had to boat out your rods

I cant do tips up they always have to be under water wherever possible for me
Think the habit started when I was first carping in tight treelined swims at my fave place. When the line was out of the water I would get constant liners...from bats in the evening

When I was fishing the river itchen it was always tips up due to all the crap coming down and even canoe's easier for them to avoid if they can see where lives going in,even padding underneath the rods also with the current and rubbish coming down it can build up and drag rods and alarms in.
