I've got the fox one. It heavy but sturdy

I've never felt the need for a tripod.
I use a Cygnet crook, it came with a sturdy non-flexible pole. I feel more in immediate control if a fish starts flapping in the sling.

Them tripods are real handy if you don't need to lug them about to far
Mine has 50 kg of boilies on it over a week air drying, me mats for kneeling on and various other bits on that keeps them high up off floor from harms way, plus the weighing of fish and drying of retention slings etc
Wouldn't be without them, got the cygnet one too, both good

Good point about using them for drying stuff ... Very handy.
