It is true that the seal got into Sewell's Lake, the big one next door, whether it got into the park lake I've not heard. There were a handful of cracking fish in both lakes but emphasis on 'were' as a lot have been lost to predation.
Officially no night fishing in the park, and in the summer I wouldn't want to anyway. Officially no night fishing on the big lake too however one bank is a bit of a free for all. Hell of a long barrow push though for very little reward.
Close season applies to the park lake too.
Still the odd nice fish kicking about and for £25 or whatever it is now it's worth a punt but the hassle of fishing a busy park, days only and access to Sewell's is a big put off.

Yeah Sewells is a funny one because the club has one end from the farm round towards the A14 and the end of the bay, then it's a bit of an unofficial free for all on the Brook Bank along to the country park, but the nice bit with the reeds where the handful of remaining carp like to bask in the southern sunshine is mega private owned by the church.
They also have a small stretch of river which has in the past thrown up the odd lump.

I know the place well, as I lived ten minutes walk from the park for several years when I was working in Huntingdon. The EE's took all the pike and perch they could get spinning, along with anything else they could get on hand lines. I walked round the water a few weeks ago - it's very clear and I can tell you, I saw very little in the way of fish, a few roach, but that was it. So sad, it was a cracking tench water at one time and did some big pike - I had 30.10 from there in 2012. But like anything these days, as soon as word got out, it got ruined. Never been a carp water to talk of though, although there were a few in there back in the day. Much better waters nearby, most syndicates with very long waiting lists. One in particular the other side of the Racecourse, that I think most people would offer up a testicle to fish
