We can't all have the same opinion( that would be boring🤣 ) and we all speak from personal experiences. I suppose we all fish with what we have confidence in. What was matter with the eyes Ken ?

The eye on these patterns was/is very poorly formed, which meant there was/is a gap where the eye is created. As the eye itself is totally exposed with the 360 Rig, it has a tendency to catch in the net mesh when the fish is being landed.
This can sometimes result in the hook being torn out of the mouth thanks to the carp's own weight, if you see what I mean. I therefore took a trick from the 60s carpers who solder-blobbed a Partridge Low Water Salmon hook pattern to form the early Jack Hilton carp hook pattern, as used at Redmire so successfully. I added a blob of solder at the eye, which totally closed the gap and made the rig a hell of a lot safer.
However, I realised that few anglers would have the necessary patience to solder-blob their hooks, so I suggested shrink tube as an effective alternative.
