I am looking at taking out insurance just because you never know but unfortunately I haven't got a single receipt. I could provide photos of every bit of kit I have just not receipts. Might be worth a call

I'm the same, no reciepts. I'll give it a miss as I can see claiming being a nightmare tbh

The average policy price must be quite substantial surely as paying out on photos as proof of ownership a very costly affair so I presume there's a lot to digest in the small print?

Just following up the posts below at Anglers First Insurance we don't need any proof of ownership on items under £300 although all the items are covered. For items over £300 we prefer to have some form of ownership e.g. receipt but also email from tackle shop confirming selling the item, web account history for ebay/facebook etc. For very expensive items we would need one of those, if they are just over £300 then please feel free to give us a call as we may be able to accept a photo at the time. Equally as someone has said below if anyone is interested we are happy to talk through anything on the phone.

I have a policy with Anglers First as it covers my kit in the shed.

I haven't had to make a claim (thank god!) so I can't comment on that but it was quick and easy to set up and is good value for money in my view

Not a plug, just an honest review.

Any chance of a ball park figure of the premium price for average tackle cover as I can't be alone in being curious whilst potentially interested given a taste of the carrot.

It depends on the value of tackle you are insuring but mine costs £90 per year

Ouch...

You could get a half decent mid-net worth household policy that gives you all the cover you need for your tackle and everything else for not much more...

To be fair though we think nothing of spending a couple of hundred on bait every few months....

House insurance policies are notoriously cagey when paying out for fishing tackle claims. Lots of hidden small print designed so they can wriggle out of it. I think a dedicated policy is we worth the money for that piece of mind. Mine is a tenner a month.
