I went from 11 to 13 foot rods years ago.

While I agree with the fact that a longer rod works against you when pulling against a carp, I find the larger arc from a longer rod makes getting fish over the landing net cord a bit easier if you're doing it yourself.

Very true, even more so when zig or floater fishing

I've resisted the urge to buy a 13ft float rod for big carp, but I'll probably do it at some point
