If a ton of pasties and a few low to mid 20s is your best hing then yes.... Place is a dump and the fish are generally munters.

To be fair to Pete I think we need to reserve our judgement until we see what he is doing to the place. He is closed for a year to do substantial work. My guess is the shop will go, maybe replaced with some sort of club house, possibly showers etc? I'm pretty sure he is going to remove that small stuff and stock with better fish, and rebuild the swims.
I personally wouldn't pay that to fish there, but I'm aware I'm spoilt and don't live in the real world.

I can't really be fair to the guy Wayne, ive met him numerous times and some of the things he's come out with were unreal. He openly admitted barbless hooks cause more damage and yet has a barbless rule which was amazing to me. Admitted the place was very overstocked and underfed to make it easy for beginners so they keep coming back and spending money. And he doesn't know me from Adam, not the sort of thing you'd be saying to a stranger even if that was what you thought? I reckon it's more to do with the fact it's now surrounded by houses that's he's turning syndicate to reduce traffic. I thought that old ivel Valley turned syndicate and charged £300 was a but of a piss take but over 8 bills is a joke!

I think the thing with Pete is that he's a decent honest bloke, probably too honest by the sounds of things. I know his health has been poor in recent years and I think the hassle of running a day ticket has probably taken its toll on him. I hope by going syndicate he gets to have a bit of a rest, recover and maybe get back out on the bank himself and enjoy himself again.
I still think anyone paying that is crackers though. As much as I like him and wish him all the best.

Gobsmacked isnt the word..£850?? Someones having a mahoosive joke surely? Last time I was up there about 18mnths or so ago, I was chatting to Pete and he told me it had been netted to remove the silvers and a lot of the battered singles to help pay for a few more bigger carp. Cant remember what he wanted me to do with any I caught with manky mouths/scar tissue holes..guessing either retain for him to check or put into pond at the back? With all those new houses going up all around,the post suggesting a traffic reduction was the reason could well be right. Even if he pours several K into an improvement on facilities, It would have to be the king of what is essentially a puddle to justify charging half of the above amount...and like another post mentioned the old Ivel Fisheries lake only wants something like £300/year and thats come on leaps and bounds since going syndi.
