Practice makes perfect

I put something sacrificial over the eye, and use a tapered file, so I can have the file against the eye and use a round stroke so it is filing on the right plane and pushing towards the point as you go through

I also heated a plastic chopstick to put a bend in it, and stuck some 2500 grit sharpening film to it (wet and dry sandpaper is much the same) for final touch ups

Axminster tools sell a self adhesive diamond sheet you can cut and shape, I might do a longer lasting version using it
