Let us know how this goes mate, I suspect my Ultegras are heading the same way as your opening post and might send mine for a service and washer replacement mid-winter.

Check to see if the washers inside the spool are of the felt type or plastic type. If of the felt type, then change them to genuine ICE washers (I have tried others including carbon style, etc & these are by far the most reliable & don't need changing every year or so).

yes they are the felt type so as I mentioned I'm going to replace them

The Jag 'Rod Lockers' have turned up, what an amazing bit of kit they are, so small as well, genius design really

Tidy bit of kit eh? Can get them super tight, much like a beautiful lady...

Takes a while to not lift your rod off the rest without disengaging them. Keep doing it
