I will shortly be eBaying my friends for him I'm just waiting for a pound selling fee offer, they have only been used once and were only purchased a month ago, they have ungraded line clips and speed caps I believe from Weston developments, they are as new ! Think he wants to try and get around £700, wish I could have them but can't at the moment, the boss won't let me as she thinks another set of reels is stupid!! She just doesn't understand !

Mine are 22yr old, never had a service or an upgrade and I still fish with them. 100's of nights during that time. 👍

I still don't get why these are still being sold Other than the way they look (which is fine). Far superior reels out there that would also last as long

Feels smoother in the shop?
Weighs a sparrow turd less?
I can't think of a single reel that's been in production as long or has parts available from such an early initial release.
I drive a transit van, there are many ‘superior' vehicles but mine excels at what I demand of it. Doubt you'd get many sheets of ply, tools or recreational sport equipment in a mclaren f1

Well, it's hypothetical as none I'm talking about have been around that long yet, but technium 10000xt, 10 years and still fine. Suppose if you look after them, a fair few Top end reels should be fine And last longer than necessary. Never had a problem with ISO's in 6 years either.

This is true. It may be superior in the fact it's still in development and can still gets parts. But that doesn't make it a better reel.
Well apparently weight savings makes a better reel, I use shimsno xt 10000's and they are quite heavy. But they are superior in the fact they are 10 times smoother in the shop and about 200 times smoother on the bank after a years use. Better line lay but there's also argument that better line lay doesn't necessarily mean longer casts BUT I like better line lay
And you could always put a trailer on your mclaren f1 for said sheets and materials

Older shimano possibly new ones are junk with poor spool clickers and line going behind reel constantly

Yes the 10k techs are a fine reel, if you need any parts though it is just a fine paperweight
What an idea! I'll have to pop out to the garage to see if the mclaren has anywhere to fix a towing hook

Just sold an old set of three to a mate with Weston spools for £100 he probably needs to spend at least £150 for a thorough service but he will end up with a nice set of grinders at reasonable money.
