I'm sure that it will be fine. however you specifically mentioned float fishing so (IMO) a longer, lighter test curve rod would be more enjoyable and better suited to float fishing, given you arent using a lead and dont have to cast any distance, and would balance better with lighter line when playing fish (presuming there arent any real snags, and based on the stock you mentioned)

Reel is absolutely fine too - i had one previously and no complaints with it at all.
