I can't currently see that on Gov website although I wouldn't be surprised if they did reciprocate.

The French have not made that announcement. Connexion are basing that on Tweet from a junior minister yesterday. It may well happen but it hasn't officially happened yet as far as I can see.

The Foreign Office has stated that from Sat 15th Aug " only essential travel to France is allowed". If you do travel for non-essential reasons you might be turned back at the boarder. Any insurance and car breakdown cover will be invalid.
There has been no announcement from the French Govt on what, if any, quarantine will be in place for visitors to France from the UK but if like last time it could be voluntary.

You can still get travel insurance cover, and it is not the case that breakdown cover is invalid

Transit stop and Private vehicles are under two seperate headings? I'll mix with less people on our planned trip, than a weekly trip to Tesco!!

You might be able to buy it but won't be able to claim on it whilst travelling in a country where you have been told not to travel unless for essential reasons.

COVID-19 travel guidance
The Foreign & Commonwealth Office currently advises British nationals against all but essential international travel. Travel to some countries and territories is currently exempted.
This advice is being kept under constant review. Travel disruption is still possible and national control measures may be brought in with little notice, so check our travel guidance.
From the UK Government page, it "advises" against all but essential travel, does not ban it.
Entry to France
Travellers arriving in France from the UK, European Area, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia and Uruguay are no longer required to self-isolate, to demonstrate their travel is essential or to hold an international travel certificate.
Arrivals from countries other than those specified above will still need to complete an international travel certificate, which certifies that your journey is essential and confirms that you have not been suffering from a set of listed symptoms associated with Covid-19. This travel certificate is available on the French Ministry of the Interior's website. You should also produce any supporting paperwork to substantiate the essential nature of your travel. If you are entering France via any port or airport from any country from which you are required to present an international travel certificate, or have spent time in these countries in the last 30 days, you will be invited to provide a negative Covid19 RT-PCR test taken less than 72 hours before departure. Those unable to provide this test result will be subject to 14-day compulsory quarantine/self-isolation on arrival. Travellers will be offered the option to have a free RT-PCR test at the airport on arrival with quarantine being lifted for those whose results are negative. For travellers arriving from Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Oman, Israel, Turkey, Algeria, India, Madagascar, South Africa, Brazil, Peru, Panama, Serbia and the USA, the RT-PCR test will be obligatory from 25 July for travellers unable to provide a negative test taken less than 72 hours before departure.

Crete Lakes are still operating there all inclusive package of picking up from Dover, surely this isn't essential travel? Due out on the 12th next month, I won't be able to go if self isolation is still in place, no chance of refund or moving dates tried that one because the bus is still running as normal!

We go for 2 weeks (1 week at 2 seperate lakes) from September 4th and still plan to go and suffer the isolation on return. The lake owner is saying the guys arrived with no issues this morning and even dream lakes etc coaches are still running . Even if the French impose reciprical action it's voluntary and can be done at the lake.
