Anyway, I use Harrison Aviator Plus rods in 12ft 3lb 6oz and can fish efficiently at 120 yards. I've just bought a set of Shimano 13 ft TX9 Intensities to go a little longer. Early days with these, but a quick test over a field I went another 15 yards straight away. I'm sure I can do better as I get used to them.

How do the Aviator's compare to the TX9s?
I've recently got some TX4 Intensities for long range bag work. Fore the bag out a decent way and feel real heavy duty. Do the Aviators have a more through action?

Technique is the way forward and a rod that feels like its connected to your arm. The rod helps but technique will push you that extra nine yds...

I have bad joints and have had to go down the really light rod route. I have a set of 2.25s that will put up to 6oz out and are really easy to use with them being so light. Everyone who has a go of them can cast a long way without much effort as they stay rely long and don't over compress so get very good lead speed for not much effort.
They weigh about 8oz built. Level line casting with 0.30 will do 130 - 150 if you are smooth with 3oz leads on.
