Yes, sounds like the 4-5 rod has no padding for the tips even though it says that it does on the website description, must just be the 3 rod that has it as Chuffy has on his.
Like I said not a major issue, just get some tip protectors like you have, I was just trying to avoid longer set and pack down time by putting on protectors etc
