LOL Didn't think about that... Although there were rumours that at least one of the baliffs has been fishing over there since last week as he is "keeping an eye on things"

I've just joined a new place Payed last week before thought I'd get a couple of sessions in before they say no movement Still waiting for ticket through post bet it's waiting to be posted it just like close season on the rivers really Can't wait for it to end everything is polished new rigs made we just need for it to end As long as people follow the guidance and stay in hopefully the number of deaths will reduce

if it's true that the bailiffs were fishing it last week in spite of the guidelines, then why the hell would you want to give money to a club like that?
tell them where to stick their membership and tell them why

Yeah I was thinking exactly the same. It has really annoyed me!!
Just selfish and stupid... sort of people who think the rules don't apply to them!
Trouble is I literally have no other options on places to fish other than some local park lakes and day tickets which are terrible near me!

I'd argue he's just doing his job, which he's fully entitled to do just like anyone of us can go to work. It's just that his job involves doing something that we would all love to be doing now.

I'd argue that his job is to police the lake not fish. Normally there is a perk that he can fish but not during lockdown he should only be there for essential duties

The other members I spoke to all feel the same... like fishing in the closed season.
Happy for him to be there and look after the place if needed. It's all fenced off and only members have codes for the lock so it's not like people can just go over there for a walk. Bit of strange one... we are not sure if he is still there as obviously nobody has been over but he was there last Friday as a dog walker took a photo of his bivvy through the fence and messaged the club.

I personally don't see the problem with bailiffs fishing while doing their job?
Bailiffs could be on 24/48 hour shifts for example so don't see the problem of them fishing, like I said just a perk
Would people still moan if it was middle of the winter, freezing cold, snowing/raining

Personally wouldn't swap my lifestyle for a club or syndicate bailiffs lifestyle. If he wants to fish on his own, crack on.

Ive got two tickets totalling in excess of £1300 and both have been very forthcoming about the situation and have offered to defer payments and will review the situation as time goes by, Ive made the payments and am keen to support them as much as I can do in these trying times for everyone but really appreciated the gesture as they aren't inclined too at all

Agree... but not sure if the fishing part is in his job description... he's not a paid bailiff anyway.
I think the issue they had last week was people had seen him and someone else (maybe the other bailiff) fishing and the point was made about non essential work while in lockdown. i.e. does he really need to be on the lake 24/7 when normally he isn't there all the time. Normally one of them pops over twice a day to check all is OK.
Still at least the lake won't get poached while he is there I guess!

That's what I'm saying. If the lockdown had happened during the winter and it was freezing every day with rain/snow would people moan about bailiffs fishing?
This lockdown just happens to be during prime fishing time which is probably the reason people are moaning for rather than the fact he's fishing

There have been quite a few waters around the country that have suffered from poaching, thefts and criminal damage during the lockdown. Many owners have taken the decision to have bailiffs and themselves acting as a security presence, and fishing whilst there. Do you really want waters left at the mercy of those scumbags that will cause damage and worse?
