Twenty years ago I was doing one overnighter a week, on the lake at six in the evening ( 5 in winter) and off by six. I made the decision that if I was to survive this in my mid 40's and manage to work the next day then good sleep in between fish was a must.

With this in mind I ditched my original Fox bedchair and army down filled centre zip sleeping bag ( complete with boots on) and bought a new bed and bag. I also cut the backs off an old pair of trainers to make ‘bivvy slippers' so I could get in my new bag with just socks on

The chair I bought was a JRC Stealth Bedchair. 3 legged but ultra lite with lots more padding than my Fox MK 1 and a lot lighter. The bag was a Gardner Carp Duvet in DPM Camo.

Well in 2020 and now approaching mid 60's the JRC bed is still in use. The Gardner bag was superseded by a Trakker Big Snooze purely because of the breathable waterproof outer, which has been in turn superseded by a 20+ year old Aqua Union Jack 4 seasons bag to which my good lady wife has lovingly added a handmade quilt section which Velcro's into the bag along with the supplied detachable innetrs making the perfect all season waterproof bag where you can remove layers to suit the weather.

So 20 year old bedchair and a modified 20 year old sleeping bag and a mid 60's angler out there doing it when most are tucked up in bed.

Ps: binned the overnighters for 2-3 night sessions mid week when I retired
