Had an issue with lead core 25 years ago where is went on the cast, I've always clued it ever since, not the entire length just a small section by the loop whilst under tension.
I tend to double check them just in case as I've found the odd one slipping that I've been using a lot due to the glued joint perishing. Personally wouldn't use lead or lead-less core without a dab of glue.

Interesting you say Solar Contour I had similar issues of it slipping if the dab of glue perished, just had to keep an eye on it and re apply glue. Although that was several all years ago.

I find it a bit strange that there is no really reliable alternative. The fused leaders are mad expensive.

I started doing a double splice when I briefly used solar contour, so just a standard splice around 35-40mm then above that do a second splice of around 10-15mm.
Also like baitman said, attach swivels/clips/leads in a loop to loop style rather than putting them in the loop, it just means there is always tension on the splice
The slippage problem seems to occur when I held the splice area of the leader while pulling silkweed off the lead, which makes sense as doing that stops the splice from tightening on itself, these days I use around 3 inches of silicon tube above the lead as a shock absorber so will grip the leader above this to clear stuff.
Three small tweaks to prevent your slippage problems at the lead end, I always attach by poking the line through and out the leader then tying a grinner

Started to think maybe those fused leaders might be a better option. I see they are only about 2 pounds on Aliexpress, while big brands sell those for about 6 pounds a piece.

Have you thought about connecting the leader to main line with a needle knot, i have never had one let me down.

Fused leaders have been banned in my syndicate dreadful things. We can only use lead or lead less core when using a helicopter lead arrangement.

Yes, that needle knot looks perfect! I will use that!
I have now glued and blobbed the ends and the are fine now! In combination with the needle knot I will have a strong and reliable setup.

Never had a problem with it.
I always used the very thin super glue that comes with a brush, and ensure it penetrates the outer and inner and they fuse together for a permanent 100% join.
If the glue became thicker with age it doesn't work the same as it only coats the outer.
