Thanks Richard, our property is on the other side of the bridge approx 500 metres up from the the canoe hire on the opposite side.
Been busy doing the property up the last 2 years but hopefully should see the end of it around June and im coming out for 5 weeks or so July/August so will get some fishing in then.
Im there next month so will have a run down in the boat under the bridge and see who's about.

Just found this post and have been researching for a possible future trip to this area of the lot.
All I really want to know is how do you stand on access to the river ? I have google mapped onto many tasty spots where it looks like a track just goes down to the river and there are openings you could fish from, providing you have a carte du peche is this ok assuming its not private land ?

You can go down any track in France ,unless it is chained with private /prive , and obviously keeping the track clear for the farmer , having said that , having a nice looking track doesn't mean you will have much swim choice , so the ability to travel the river by boat with your tackle is a must to find more swims .

The most respecful thing to do would be to get in contact with the local Marie on the places you intend to fish and find out who owns the land. If it's public, great. If it's private seek the land owners permission first before setting foot on there.
Please don't go wandering around willy nilly as British carp anglers already have a bad reputation in France. Don't make life harder for future anglers and always try to be as courteous and as considerate as possible.
I know it may sound silly, but every time you bivvy up in foreign lands, you are in a small way representing British carp anglers and the way in which you conduct yourself without a doubt has an influence on how the locals perceive all others from that nation after you.
If you do get caught with your pants down somewhere you shouldn't be just be warned that the guard de pêche (water bailiffs) are armed and they can and WILL confiscate all your gear and drag you out in front of a French court.
Essentially just play it safe mate and get in touch with the local Marie. They are usually very helpful and are pro tourism. They've even made an effort to communicate back to me in English when I've tried to ask them about access to local fishing spots.

What are you on about ? if there's a night zone on a river , then it's public , or public agreement with the landowner , France has a right to roam law , unless the land is sign posted prive , there's also the very old towpath law (look it up )
You do not have to contact the local Marie , unless it's a water run by the village/town , and you have to buy a ticket from the Marie's office , all this you will find out when researching the federation rules ,
Obviously as a visiting angler to another country , your behaviour should always be respectful , be polite , keep your swim clean etc oh and don't fall out with the predator anglers 😂
No need for the over the top scare mongering .

Thanks everyone for your comments, much what I suspected.
I have fished france for over 20 year inc public venues so well versed to keeping the locals on side and being as respectful as possible.
I have seen Jim's videos and have given me plenty of info so far just didnt want to make the long journey without establishing a few things first, the rest I can find out for myself ( best way )
I have always worried about leaving my van while fishing away from it in France ? Although probably no worse than in the UK these days

Never had a problem with my vehicle , no as bad as this country , unless your in the suburbs of a large town /city , then you need to be a bit careful , just don't block anyone and you'll be fine , I've not been to the lot for a few years now , but it's a cracking river , if a bit over publicized now 🙄 good luck and watch out for the occasional flash level increases .

Plenty of night sectors on the Lot now. Bit of something for everyone. Fast flowing sections, large barrages forming large lakes, locks and weirs etc.
Haven't fished it for a fair few years as it became a little to popular. I used to live near Estaing so the Lot was my local.

Agreed on the flash level increases.
It's when whole trees start flowing down the river when things get rather ‘real'!

Fédération de Pêche du Lot is sharing a COVID-19 Update.
2 hrs
✅ Fishing allowed from May 11
It will be possible to practice all fishing techniques on all rivers of the department (rivers and streams of 1st and 2th cat). Please note that the fishing place should not be located more than 100 km from your home.
🛑 With regard to water bodies, government instructions ask the prefects to ban access to these sites. In order for access to these sites to be allowed to fishing, the town hall concerned must obtain a prefecture-level derogation. As of this Thursday, the federation sent a mail to the prefect and all the town hall owners of a water plan asking to allow fishing activity as soon as possible. We will not fail to communicate the returns of the city hall.
⚠️ In the meantime, before fishing on a water plan, we invite all our members to check out with the services of the city hall concerned to find out if fishing is allowed.
In addition, the federation of the Lot's fishing invites all its members to carefully respect the barriers to the of-19 pandemic and the government's instructions.
🛥 We remind you that boating and crossing locks on the Lot River should not work until June 26 Without the use of locks and in accordance with the regulations in force, fishing on a boat will be allowed from May 11
The the federation fishing team wishes you a great fishing season and thank you for your patience and support 👍

That's good news!
For those a bit uncertain a WATER PLAN = un plan d'eau = A municipal public lake. Can be large or small but they are usually sign posted in the nearby villages and towns.
