I thought they were awful. I bought a couple of pairs a few years back
They lasted 2 washes before they had fallen apart and were no warmer than a regular walking sock. Two colleagues at work that bought some found the same.

I wear a decent pair of wool socks, but I find my footwear to be just as important.
The past couple of years I've been wearing a pair of Cabela's “Inferno” winter boots. Best pair of winter foodwear I've had. Great for fishing, but I use them for all sorts of winter outdoors stuff. I don't get cold feet in them. I bought a size bigger, I recommend that with winter footwear, too tight and you'll be cold.

I recently bought 2 pairs of 68% merino wool socks from a company called 'insight clothing' for only £4.99 with free postage, there pretty good for price.
