I know this is old but has anyone put in any serious time on this stretch... Ive been up and down a few times recently and am thinking of giving it a real go. I have seen carp both on top and below the weir (100% sure), but this was some time ago. If anyone has any info to share would really be helpful... I'll be sure to share my findings too of course 
Thinking of trying above the weir (near the lilies and reeds, not to far from the big bridge), below the weir (near the footie ground at the far bank).... this is where I saw a mid double a couple of years ago. Also want to try near the rowing club on the far bank as it seems like a nice carpy spot and a few people have mentioned it to me.

Another bump to this old thread.
I do a bit of allsorts with regards to fishing and caught a carp down here a couple of years back while bream fishing. It was only a small common about 6lb,
Next summer I would definitely like to give it a proper go for the carp, but it would be a bit dodgy at night down there.
You can just about seem my carp here:...one of the fish in that keepnet isnt a bream.....

The scope rods arrive tomorrow! Cant wait to get on the canal.... Found quite a few spots where Im sure carp will be. Ive seen them in most of the spots and the others just seem to be perfect. Lets see what happens. Anyone else carping on Leicester canals?

Hello mate. Very interested in this and would be up for meeting up etc, as some of it would be a bit dicey after dark.
I had a quick go down there this week just for a couple of hours sunday morning. Funnily enough with my scopes, so we would look a right pair of charlies if we fished together!

Great to see someone else interested in this! Ive been reading and speaking to people for the last few months or so and walking the banks quite a bit. Pretty sure I have some decent spots locked down but as you said probably wouldn't feel relaxed in certain areas on my own after dark.

I had a few goes last autumn with the chap that posts under Jules in this thread. We fished a couple of evening sessions into darkness on the mile straight, after a fair bit of pre baiting. No fish though....not even a bream, so I now know where not to fish!
I've been for a couple of bike rides down there this summer and seen bream. Just been burgled and had my bike stolen though, which curtailed that.
As I've said previously, would be up for fishing it with others. Just not the kind of place to hang out alone at night

I've seen carp in the river behind abbey park and near the canal al leicester college. I believe there are carp in abbey part but you can't fish there.

I am pretty sure you can fish the river in Abbey park, you just cant fish the boating lake.

Been on a few bike rides recently and reckon there's some nice stretches past Kilby bridge towards foxton. Will keep my eye out. Also saw some carp in the canal near abbey park but haven't been back to fish yet.

There used to be quite alot of carp in the basin by The Navigation at Kilby Bridge dont know if its still the case.
