Do you need the full size Bloxx? I was under my Bloxx Compact for a week recently in France with the wrap on and absolutely loved it. Really is a solid feeling nice little bivvy, small footprint but there's plenty of space for most sitautions.

Things I (personally) don't like about the compact & wrap:

The door of the bivvy feels almost too wide and leaves me feeling a little exposed when not used with the wrap, not that it is exposed, it just has what seems a wide door and I feel that way about it!

The wrap is a very tight fit, if you set the bivvy up 1st and then try and peg the overwrap down over it it feels almost impossibly tight and hard to line up.

But here's the fix to MY issues:

I set the main bivvy up in France and pegged it down. I had bought a set of awning loops and used these through the overwrap pegging points to fix the wrap to the main bivvy at the rear and the sides (so hooked the awning loops over the main bivvy pegs). I then pegged down the front of the wrap with pegs. Because of that bit of stretch in the rear/side points from using awning loops, the wrap then fitted perfectly. With the wrap on, the extra coverage you get between the wrap and main bivvy - enough to put boots, bait buckets etc in - is very useful, and also the wrap provides the extra coverage at the front to make it feel snugger and not exposed. When set up like this I don't think i'd rather be in another bivvy, it feels great. Only other negative is no vents in the outer wrap at the rear.

There's a new bloxx compact AND wrap on ebay for £220, and the awning loops are 5 or 6 quid and you're sorted. Once the awning loops are fitted to the wrap it's just a case of chucking the wrap over, hooking on loops and then pegging the front, takes 2 minutes

I use those on my Saber bivvy wrap as well

Just had a look at the 2G version with skull cap, I would safely say that it does not add any additional coverage at all to the existing bivvy, and the extra coverage the wraps do give is a definite advantage of the older models...

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm looking at getting a compact 2g version of the bloxx. I have a few concerns that hopefully users can help me with. Firstly height, I'm 6'1" and have a dodgy neck so need to be able to sit upright on bedchair without touching the roof. It says height is 135cm which doesn't seem very high, but would prob be ok if that is the height most of the way through, if that makes sense and it doesn't slope back too much. I would prob use it mostly open fronted so wondered if I could pull it in bit narrower to increase the height? I wouldn't be using it for longer sessions just one night jobs and need something quick to erect and pack up. I have read this they are quick once you get the knack of it.

Also is it pretty flat at the back so bedchair can go fully back?

I have the original Bloxx Compact, brochure height for that is 1.35cm but it is plenty high enough for me at 6 foot. It doesn't slope backwards significantly due to the design (ie it is quite flat backed).

I'd actually say it feels higher than average once sat inside, but guess it could depend on the bed you use etc...

I have the standard original bloxx and it is pretty good. Height wise I am 5f 8 and there is plently of space, it is quite a tall bivvy compared to the tempest/hide's etc so you will be fine

Does not slope back to much either, its not dead flat at the back but its alright, leave a little room at the back but its about the same as my tempest does also

I've taken a punt and just bought the bloxx 2g compact. Comes with the skull cap thing, but not sure how much use that will be? Should arrive tomorrow and I'm planning on fishing tomorrow night so hopefully will give it a try out. I will scan back through this thread on best ways to put it up.

If anything like mine, 1st time up it will feel f**king tight! You'll wonder if you're doing something wrong lol

Don't worry about it too much though, it gets far easier the more you put it up & down

Mine was ridiculous to tighten the peak on but that's where the fix comes into play and is alot better now

I'm hoping it will be a reasonably quick and light(ish) weight shelter. It will only be single night trips as I have other bivvies for longer sessions.
