Got the compact version recently and it's my first bivvy, I am struggling to set it up, with the block and specifically where the poles connect to, are they meant to lock into place so the bivv has shape

The 2 top front poles just push into the block to create the peak

Best advice is to fan it out as much as you can, connect all the long poles (note - it has anti twist poles, flat on one edge, so make sure you are aware of this in case you think they are being buggers to put together). Then stand at the front and literally man handle (Ooer
) the shorter poles into the front of the block, they can be tight first time of asking. At this point it should take shape. Again man handle the straps that go over the front shorter pulls, pull them up tight, and then tension strap on, peg out. Do it a couple of times in your garden if you can and it gets easier 2nd/3rd time.
If you're really struggling i could always try and do a video for you on a dry day lol

I've just brought a 2nd hand one and its in really nice condition BUT the tension straps for the peak are IMPOSSIBLE to tighten up properly , one always undoes as soon as you try and tension the 2nd one ....its driving me nuts !!!

I am having exactly the same issue and is soooooo annoying !
on my last trip I used the rod rest straps which has Velcro on it to makeshift it to stop it undoing but its not a long term solution by any means
Apart from this its a great bit of kit, impressed with the overwrap too, fitted extremely well.

Hi Russell
I may have found a solution !!
I spoke to the Kevin at kpspares.co.uk (they are the authorised spares and repair centre for JRC)
He has modified his Bloxx by removing the end screw and replacing the clip with a metal peg that screws into the end
You then pull the strap until you've got the tension you're happy with , mark the spot on the strap and then punch/burn a hole in the webbing .
Then all you do is hook the hole in the webbing over the peg and it stays put.... no more Velcro .
He said he did it about a year ago and it works !!
You can also fit a rivet/eyelet to give it some extra strength/tidy it up to stop the webbing fraying though he did say its not really necessary
He's going to send me a couple of the pegs in the post , once I've got them I'll try and see if I can get it to work and then post some piccies (if I can work out how to that is !!)

fit I have fixed the issue.
I purchased some Velcro off ebay ( green of course ) which was sticky on the other side.
I then cut the Velcro to the same width as the current peak straps and basically added onto the end so the original straps were longer. so the added Velcro could then reach the Velcro on the peak easier without as much tension.
Seemed to work ok and did not look like it would not stay.
Once used it for a session as only tried in garden will let you know if worked.

The modification that I mentioned previously works 100% but you need to get the pegs from Kevin at the JRC spares place and you need to get hold of one of those fabric hole punches (£10) ...it really is very simple and very quick to do
Makes setting it up a breeze

i have done the repair which you have mentioned and has worked great and was very easy
well apart from dropping the hot nail I used to make the hole onto the tension strap and melting that away

I am thinking about getting the compact version of this.
Has anyone had anymore issues and is there room to sit on a bedchair with a bedchair buddy on and not hit your head on the roof (and see out ok?) I've got a jrc tx2g which I believe is 140h instead of bloxx compact 135. I have about 5inches head room at the moment in mine so I'm guessing it should be ok?

I can only comment on the standard size but I use a bedchair buddy and there is still loads of room above my head, I am 5ft 8,
