Deaths by date of death are falling though, there were some changes to how the data is collected recently, which has seen huge jumps in case numbers and todays jump in deaths.

Case numbers are no doubt way higher than reported anyway.
Firstly no requirement to get a PCR. And many getting a positive Lateral Flow never log it on a Govt site.
There may be a bit of lag causing today's high death total.
But that doesn't explain away January's shocking figure.

So half a study group of unvaccinated volunteers without a prior infection, who were intentionally given the virus, never actually got covid?

Not wanting to defend him again. But case numbers by definition are precisely correct. A case is a positive test. Infections are much higher than cases (infections may be present without a positive test result)
The government are charlatans, but too many people use the handling of the pandemic as a stick to beat them with because it's convenient.
We are reaching a point in the pandemic where the majority of cases are not fatal, and where cases have the upside of giving very good, long lasting immunity. Not everyone will agree with that acceptable level of death, suffering and long COVID etc, but these things have to be balanced against disruption to normal life, the economy and our many other ongoing health issues; of which there is also a death toll.
I hate everything this govt stands for, but I think they are right to relax measures as they are doing at this point. Most other countries are doing the same or will be soon.

It's also more likely those with relatives that died, will have died with an earlier ‘variant' so it's completely fair to question why they couldn't hold their hand as they died alone.

I'm looking forward to the data being released of who died WITH CV or DUE to CV......can imagine the numbers tumbling......

Another concerning thing is our data for deaths did not include reinfections at all. If you were previously infected and survived then caught it again and died you were not counted. Now you are, but apologists claim this is odd?

Similarly if you get ill and die after 28 days from infection, you don't count. Other countries go.much further. When this all comes out. We are going to be seen to have done very badly.

The way this has played out and how unprepared and unwilling we were to do some common sense strategies I imagine our death caused by Covid . In so far as IF the individual hadn't contracted Covid then they would likely have kept living, is much higher even than the ONS stats.
