People don't want conflict Fred.
You can have as many guns as you like and put up a struggle but against a superpower, at some point you will be in Ukraine's position.. picking dead children from debris. Or dying from radiation poisoning maybe, that'd be nice.

Looks like there's been a turn of events behind the scenes. The Chinese are mediators trying to help broker an end to what's happening in Ukraine. Apparently the aim of any deal is to end Ukrainian attempts of membership of NATO, a recognition of the two breakaway regions and a Ukrainian Government.
The Russian rational with what is happening with the Russian Army with it stalled on the outskirts of Kiev and the encirclement of the Ukrainian Army in the East is to force the issue on the Ukrainian Government to obtain their capitulation.
Chinese diplomacy is stressing that this whole saga has been brought about by NATO's eastward expansion and has to cease for there to be lasting peace in Europe.
It now seems the case that European attempts at brokering a deal pre invasion was never ment the go anywhere and was in fact a stalling tactic and totally disingenuous from the outset. If the Chinese do eventually broker a deal signed and sealed, the US would have no involvement in that deal and would certainly be very unhappy about it.

The worry is Andy, there are some absolute lunatics baying for a no fly zone over Ukraine which isn't worth contemplating. I won't bother listing the names as that's not really that relivant, the problem being is there are some very hot heads that have caused big problems down the line like the removal of Russia which apparently has caused defaults which will unwind and have huge consequences, which funnily enough has brought those that sought the swift option and assault of Russia's central bank to try and reverse their decision by way of not excluding certain banks and attempting to undo the mess they've created - they were warned about this by Wall St, The Fed, German bankers etc that it was a big mistake.

The Chinese will broker no deal in this conflict TC. It'll be the US and the EU. The only deal brokered with Chinese mediation will be with a Putin puppet installed in Kyiv, Yanukovych?
Putin wants a quick, very quick end to this, with as many of his pre invasion goals met as possible.
It's clear that the insurgency if and when Zelensky tells the Ukrainian army to lay down their weapons will be horrendous for Russia. Totally ungovernable for the invading forces, bomb's, assassinations, hit squads ALL over a vast country. Highly motivated, well armed and supplied. Causing death and chaos daily. Vive la resistance.

Maybe you misunderstood what I was trying to say? I didn't mean that the Ukrainian Government purposely gave arms to rival gangs, more the case being gangs picked up guns that were being freely handed out.
