Today I planned to spend a nice relaxing day fishing
The reality - got two miles away, car tyre split, wait for recovery, spend all day at garage, get bill for over £300. And I didn't even get to cast out!
So, cheer me up please. Someone else must have war stories of fishing trips gone wrong? What's your worst?

The only blank last year resulted in a rod being dragged in due to the fish literally ripping the bankstick out of the ground and fell into the drink, lost forever. Head torch was on my head, and whilst lunging forward to grab the rod that ended up in the drink too, so had to wake up matey next door to borrow his. After 3 hours I finally got the rod back, and begrudgingly flicked the rod back onto the spot as I didn't want to add a blank into the diary. I proceeded to lose 3 on the trot to hook pulls. I deemed that worse than requiring a hospital visit to get a hook taken out of my pinkie.

As a 12 year old fishing an old Lanc's mill lodge in the summer school holidays watching 3 pissed up blokes straight out of the pub decide to have a swim. 2 of them disappeared completely, the third one was visible in the clear water, his hands above his head just brushing the water. Absolutely horrifying to watch. Still with me 50 years later.. You did ask!

No more blanks since thankfully! Had two target fish then called it a day, too snaggy for my liking.
£300 for a tyre? You driving a BTR in Kiev or something?

Lol. Nah, just a Seat FR. The tyres were £135 each, did both fronts as they were low anyway, and an extra £60 for tracking. You can't get quicker than a Quick Fit fitter, especially when they're taking your dosh!
I've got a full service and mot in two weeks as well. Gonna be an expensive month.

I went to the bait and feed company shop once
Fell in the river when I was 5 and got swept away. My dad had to dive in and rummage about in the murky water to find and revive me.
Got held up for an hour trying to get a tram to the river because somebody had hung themselves over the track.
Did a night on a rock hard lake and had a pick up first night, left the Korda kaptor green cap on the hook
Did a night with 2 of us under a 50” brolly in a torrential storm because we ignored the forecast.
Cut my finger clean open to the bone with a Swiss Army knife I'd been given on my 14th birthday before going fishing. It looked pretty moody after a day of maggot maize and luncheon meat going in it

I remember spinning for pike in the 80s with my old man, it was a steep sided drain, I'd have only been about 6 so he tied a 20 foot length of rope round my waist and his waist. Didn't have to use it luckily.

Had a rod stolen from me as a kid whilst I was fishing which was probably the worst. Lots of times getting hassled by people when fishing as a kid.
When I moved from primarily Barbel fishing to Carp fishing I bought two new rods, both of which broke on the bank in the same place on consecutive sessions. One cost me a decent fish. (Great tackle shop who replaced them both immediately).
