Another vote for the Cadac safari chef 2 hp. But also look at getting teflon grill mats as it helps to keep the grill and fat pan cleaner and saves lots of time having to wash them.

Yeah those Teflon mats are a game changer, I use them on the Cadac and the actual small BBQ, cooks stuff much better without the burning, as you say less mess as well

Interesting product, I might get some for the cadac
Looks like it would defeat the object of a proper bbq tho, might as well use a griddle pan

I use them on my main bbq at home
They allow the bbq flavour through just prevent the flare ups
Food still browns and tastes great

The main benefit I like is that you dont have to scrape the griddle off after you use it every time while on the bank. Give the mat a quick wipe instead. Give everything a proper clean when you get home.

People washing their bivvies, polishing thier rods, and using non stick mats so thier BBQ doesnt get dirty. I really feel like i dont fit in with most of the people on this forum

I know what you mean but I find with the small travel type bbqs, you usually can't raise the grill height so when it's technically ready to cook its actually still way too hot and burns everything, if you wait till it's right so it doesn't burn everything it lasts about another 10 minutes The mat gets round this. As far as using one on the Cadac I find people soon change their tune when they have had to clean one after a fat fest
