thinking of a new spod/spomb rod can you recommend not really worried about budget but would like somthing that can chuck a spomb a fair distance

13ft free spirit ctx spomb/spod rod excellent for the money and ideal for baiting up at range... Had mine18 months now...no issues

I found the FS Spomb rod 13ft great for most situations, a little heavy but not detrimentally, but when it came to really long range, personally found it lacked a little. Switched too the Fox X5 spod rod, totally happy now.

How does a spomb rod know when it's casting a spod???

Had a waggle of the expensive (£300 ish) Shimano spod rod recently. Was really light and felt lovely. It'd be great if you could loan/rent these things to try out before buying.

Yes it is, no it isn't, big, small, full, half full, boilies, particles, crumb, pellets, they weigh what they weigh on the day and it is entirely in the users control. I think the specialist spod/spomb rod is just cynical marketing hype trying to blind us with techno babble. Buy either one, don't waste money on both.

I have recently bought a Long Range Spomb rod that Fox are now making. And can't believe how much Better it is than the original Free Spirit spomb which I have also got. Feels lighter and seems to require less effort to cast .

Recently got a ctx 13ft and very happy with it, was putting a medium spod 110 today into a headwind without too much effort and that's with tapered subline. Would 100% be comfortable and greater range with a shock leader and thin braid
