Looking for advice on this bait from long-term users. I'm fishing a tricky lake where the small stock seem to switched onto naturals and not overly interested in any baits . The lake is full of snails and mussels so lots of calorific-rich food freely available.
I'm considering using the XXX as a food bait over the next few seasons and wondered if anyone has any experiences they'd share. My thinking is the GLM within may be attractive to fish already feeding on snails and mussels already but maybe that's too simplistic?
Cheers.

Apart from a few discontinued baits, this is their best bait imo.
It has really stood the test of time

have to agree, it is an awesome bait. I would class it as a campaign bait rather than an instant one.
The natural GLM they do is equally awesome

It is a cracking bait , but there is also DNA SLK which is also a very natural long term bait both I would happily use

As is Baitworks Royal Marine, Trent Baits Freshwater Shrimp, Essential B5, etc etc etc. SlK would be my choice too but I'm sure they will all work. Sounds like a bit of little and often pre-baiting is what is required. The bait itself isn't going to do it for you.

Cheers all. I take the point they're all good quality baits and it's where and when you apply bait that's important. I guess I was wondering why this particular bait seems to have become less written about or fashionable in recent times. I've used the Live System and done very well but have been considering the XXX for sometime now. The fact it's not likely to be used by others makes it even more attractive to me...

XXX is a good bait for sure, it wouldn't have survived for 10+ years if it wasn't. Some of their other baits have gone by the wayside like Equinox, Ngage and Meteor but XXX is still there. CCM are unusual in that they only do 3 baits but that's a good thing imo.

Live System is a very good bait. Probably one of the best commercial ones. XXX is also excellent. As Jim has said, those two have stood the test of time, the others fell by the wayside. I'd avoid the Tuna, I know a couple of the Ringwood Pits where a lot of this went in, with not the greatest of returns.

My feelings exactly. A mate of mine has just gone onto Live System having used the tuna and not having the desired results. He does better on light coloured baits on the lake in question for some reason.

It's a lot older than that, it started out as a bait called Obsession in the 80's, i used to use it back then. From memory it was the only rolled bait they did back then.

Wasn't the 80's chap, very late 90's at the earliest. First time I met Ian, he was handing out photocopied leaflets at Roach and Spinney!

See I'm the opposite I've always found live system to be a pretty poor bait, never been happy with the quality of it just seems cheap, just think there is much better around, I've found all the hookbaits from cc Moore to be poorly made, I do like XXX though but it wouldn't be my first choice bait

I agree, absolute dog ****. The only thing that's given it a life is marketing, bait deals and day ticket anglers. But it makes money 🤷♂️

Lol. I roll my own so I've got no axe to grind but I have to agree with you. Marketing and hype definitely sells bait.
