I've currently got a set of the original Nash Siren RS1's and receiver and fancy a change.
What would you guys suggest as an alternative out of the Nash Siren R3's or the Gardener ATTS's.
What are the good and bad points of either alarms. or is one considerably better than the other?

I've had both and personally think the R3 is better as has the adjustable features.

How? There a basic alarm which does what it's made for.
Ok no fancy extras like some but the price reflects this.
But to call them crap is just embarrassing
But as the question ask. I would agree the R3 does have greater adjustable features so I guess would make them the better alarm.

I've never owned a set of nash alarms but owned atts they do what they say on the tin and found them bullet proof a mate of mine has the rs3 personally I dont like the look of them but that's me and appreciate they may be to other peoples taste if I was looking for a set of alarms I would put a few extra pounds towards a second hand set of delks txi+ which you will pick up a decent set for around 300

Because they have no adjustment at all, because rollers freeze, because wind makes them give false bleeps, because you are relying on the silent head and reciever combo, with no option to just use the alarm, because fish can kite with no indication.... That's how, and there no embarrassment there. Its My opinion which I'm entitled to. And I'm far from the only one who thinks that...

Wow I've never had any of those problems with mine. You must be unlucky? Only adjustable options are the magnet rollers
But if I was rating something crap it would be for the following reasons..
Eats batteries, doesn't work in the rain, leaks in heavy rain, speaker stops working, plastic casing melts, plastic backs crack, falls apart after 2 months, alarm heads lose paring everytime you turn them on, led bulbs stop working, buttons falling off.. etc etc

Not just me chap, others have had those issues too. As for adjustability? Having to get a screwdriver out and change parts isn't what I'd call adjustable. You can call something crap for whatever reason you want, as can i

The kids today just haven't had the education. Us old timers cured the issue of freezing rollers almost 40 years ago when we were all using optonics.
As for no indication when a fish kites, well I have seen that also with vibration alarms. IMO it is nothing to do with the alarm and is because the line is caught in something between the fish and the set-up. Even when freelining the water pressure against the line should cause the indicator to move.

I was using optonics 30 years ago chap so I'm fully aware of that. And after all these years there's still the same issue.... And yes fish can kite and its nothing to do with the line getting caught what prevents indication. If your mainline comes off your rod tip straight to your rig, but then a fish kites and your mainline ends up at 90 degrees from where it started,how can it be? If set up properly a vibration sensor WILL give an indication because it doesn't rely on actual movement, just vibration.

I tell you what the bad points are they got the word Nash written on them atts far better and Gardner far better company to deal with

I've had the R3' s for ages and they've been faultless in use. Excellent battery life and a receiver that seems to work through dense undergrowth/trees etc. Absolutely no intention of changing.

R3 is a far superior alarm, I've had them since release and have never once had an issue, still going strong and I do 100+ nights a year
I was always led to believe that the guy that made the ATT alarms, had a hand in the electrics for the R3s. That could be a wind up though!
