Got to the swim yesterday evening, everything running fine.
Switched the controller off. Sorted everything out.
Went to move the porter, switched the controller on and got red, yellow then green and then a red flashing light even with the controller off
Undid the connector nearest the controller. The connect several times but the same issue and didn't run
And after a while no lights at all.
Anybody had the same problem or any ideas why this has happened??

Did you get this going again, had the thermal cutout in the battery bag tripped maybe?

I got home and took the controller off and it was full of water
So I've put in the airing cupboard too dry out
This is the Mk 2 controller which has a flaw. The plastic bubble over the green start button came off under normal use earlier in the year. It seemed to stretch until it came off. Was impossible to put back in.
Will see if it works after it dries out but got a feeling it's knackered and will need a new one.

That explains it then. Just had a look at the Mk2 controller and it looks a bit pony compared to the one that is on the Mk6 Power Porter, don't know why they changed it
To keep it dry I always tie a freezer bag over mine (Mk1) when it's parked up in the swim

I put a waterproof neoprene glove over mine as the controller would never keep any water out

I've dried mine out but no joy.
Rang prestige up this morning explained everything. They think the controller is still under guarantee so it's going back tomorrow
It's either the controller or the battery's have died ???
How long would you think a set of batteries last with lots of use most weeks of the year. There 2 years old ??

The batteries are the same as in most leccy golf trolleys (which will do many more miles than a carp barrow) and mine haven't skipped a beat in 5 years.

Sounds about right. I think it's the controller. All that water must have fried it

Power Porter use the same parts ( controllers etc) as used on the very cheap and nasty golf trolleys , they suffered the same problems in the rain etc.
The current power porter price is an absolute rip off for the quality you get.

Really? I was looking to purchase a power Porter next year aswell, what's the deal with them then?.

The controller definitely looks more robust on the Mk6 PP.
Even though the electrics are supposed to be encapsulated in resin It did say in the instructions IIRC to still protect it from rain when parked up on the bank.
On the Mk7 it says the controller is waterproof

so something you have to use in the rain says protect it from the rain, they must have so much faith in their product 
Like getting a submarine and the instructions say dont submerge.

I know, daft isn't it, just covering their arses I suppose.
The controller on the Mk6 (top) does look far better than the new plastic one on the Mk7 though

I got a long piece of vegetation wrapped around my front heel once going up a steep hill and mine tripped out. Was a bugger to reset and ever since the motor has played up. It's as if there's a dead spot and if you stop with it in that position it's a pain to start again. Will get it fixed one day when it gives up completely.

On the Mk 7 I was the first in the country to use it after I wrecked the mk6 by ripping the wires out of it
Totally my fault
On the Mk 7 the green button has a waterproof soft cover over it to make it waterproof but this after a months worth of use stretched and finally came out. Impossible to put back in so I left it
This is where the water got in 😔
Also I preferred the older model. Seemed more robust and never had one problem with in a year
