Just booked this place up for a weekend in October, looks a smashing lake, ideal for a social and supposedly something of a bobbins water (watch me blank it

Looks reasonably deep in the middle parts, 20 foot plus with nearly all swims having same kind of features of gradually sloping margins down to the deepest parts.
Done a forum search and couldn't find owt, but interested to know if anyone has fished it and done OK?

A mate of mine fished it and of all the fish he caught, only two were doubles!

My mate runs the group bookings. Pm me if you want more info. Are you going on a group booking, it's generally for parties of up to 10. Anyone can blank, even in a lake with 1000 fish in it.

Listen to John, the bloke who runs the bookings. He's been carp fishing longer than most of us have been alive. Oh, and use the lake bait.

Cracking venue with some really nice fish in it.
Its a gravel pit with very clear water. As already mentioned it's relatively deep overall. I've caught from close in to the margins and open water too. Pva bags/one bite at a time style fishing has generally worked better for me than big beds of bait, but the the person to listen to, as already mentioned again, is John savage who manages the bookings there. Oh, and they'll readily come to floaters.
Its not a fish a chuck type of venue but fish carefully and you should get a few.
You'll be well looked after, I would readily recommend it for a social

Just thought i'd update this for anyone going...
We fished here last weekend, 8 of us. The lake is extremely well set up for a social with 9 of the 10 swims set along one bank and top facilities. We discounted swim no.1 and drew between swims 2 & 10. I'd say from swim 2 through swim 5, the far bank is between 120-100 yards across, from swim 6 and down to 10 it's a little narrower and you've got 80 yards or less to get across. Shelves off fairly steeply both sides, deep in the middle. I fished swim 3 and simply used PVA bags cast into deep water (20/25 feet) without much thought and had plenty of runs, 19 in total. However I did lose a lot of fish due to hook pulls or mussel beds. I landed 9 in the end.
A number of swims are tight for bivvying up right next the lake/platforms, so some bivvied up at the top of the bank. (I chose to set up down near the water, but even my bloxx compact bivvy was on a slope at the rear).
Our party of 8 anglers ended up with 67 runs, 42 fish landed. Everybody caught. Biggest were a couple of upper doubles with majority being low to mid doubles. Some lovely looking fish in amongst them all.
The biggest issue was the mussels, most takes you could feel the line grating on them, and if the fish got round them it was pretty hard work to get them out. I think nearly everyone got cut off once or twice. And you can't use leaders (tubing only).
John and his wife were there all weekend to do as little or as much as you wanted them to, which was a nice touch. And it rained, a lot

Has Anyone fished cove lake recently ?
Is it still a runs water with low doubles ? Or are the fish growing nicely ?

Lost all fish during floods nothing in there m8. Unless restocked in last month. Alot of the Carp went into girton and boating lake and of course the trent. A good guess would be the entire complex lost at least 1500 carp to trent.

Probably a old add m8 as I said I'm a sydicate member and the cove flooded bad last year the whole complex more than once joined the trent. The cove hasnt been open since February 2020. There are few few if any fish in it. Unless AJS has restocked it. But the complex has had 3 major floods in 18 month. Check you tube videos of girton village. All the pits and river are one. In the Feb 20 floods the otter fence got flattened hence fish escaped to the boating lake and George's. Not sure he will restock as it will flood again within a year. Pity lovely lake
