I have noticed that my orders from AD are taking up to 2 weeks to deliver, despite all items showing in stock. Before this, service was superb. Shouldnt have to keep phoning them to give them a nudge.

Anyone else noticed that the service/delivery times are slipping?

Had a very slow delivery after the 10% discount weekend, I put it down to the increase in business and their warehouse staff not being ramped up accordingly. A another small order I placed since was dispatched same day and delivered very quickly.

How is the bubble going to burst if there's no where else to go?

They can not monopolize the market so always will be other places to go and once sales slow down and overheads get bigger and bigger stores will close and jobs lost.Look at woolworths they did exactly the same

Overheads...just like, House of Fraser, M&S, etc. Fishing trade is no different, Business number crunchers rule!

Business rates, PAYE wages, freehold property maintenance, Electric, Gas, Water, etc, very rarely year on year do these costs come down, they nearly always go UP.

Tackle percentage margins are limited, and if they don't shift big volumes, then hit slack periods, problems can build up. Stock levels will then drop, and customers go elsewhere.

One and only time I used them I had an issue with the item and their customer services were piss poor. Lesson learned. Never again.

First of all you said they were buying up everyone else so why couldn't they monopolize the market? There is a pivot point in every industry/market.

Second, why would sales slow down? If they increase their footprint sales will go up, you got to buy it somewhere.

Third, why will overheads get bigger? this is incorrect. Granted wages will rise and buying costs would increase but this would be no different than for any independent. Rental if they have any sense will be on fixed term agreements and any mortgages will be factored in and decrease not increase anyway. Any increases get passed on to you and me anyway.

Overheads...just like, House of Fraser, M&S, etc. Fishing trade is no different, Business number crunchers rule!

These two businesses actually make a lot of profit, it seems to have bypassed a lot of people that these companies are downsizing due to PROFIT warnings, goes to show how ****ed up things have become when you're laying people off despite making a handsome profit.

Tackle percentage margins are limited, and if they don't shift big volumes, then hit slack periods, problems can build up. Stock levels will then drop, and customers go elsewhere

I would bet that the key driver behind ROI in this business will be keeping stock levels at an absolute minimum, why have 10 of something sitting on a shelf not making you money when historical sales information says two of this item will last you 3 months.

How do you know tackle percentage margins are limited? Trust me with their buying power they will be better off than any other company out there.

Woolworths got fined heavily for monopolizing the market and they soon went bye byes so A.D cannot simply just buy everyone out and the shop i use smash a.d on price everytime and have more knowledge in their left testicle than some that work in my local a.d

What are you talking about mate? Woolworth's has never been fined for monopolizing anything, what were they going to monopolize ? toffees ?

It doesn't work like that mate anyway, the Monopolies and Mergers Commission/Government make those sorts of decisions, i should know, i work for a company that has been going through this in Europe, America and China following our purchase of another business for £billions. No one will give a monkeys about a few two bob shops in the Carping sector anyway.

Woolworth's did get fined for price fixing in Australia, that's a different ball game. Delkim have been guilty of that for years!!
Once again i have experience of this, a company i worked for was fined over a £billion for price fixing, i even had a 24 hour number to call if the authorities knocked on my door and took my lap top
