Hi, one way, use it with a Baitboat.
Pulled behind Baitboat (any boat), Phone or Tablet in waterproof bag or container, attached securely to top of Baitboat.

It only has a range of circa 100 yards!! so must be something to extend range further ?

Hi, castable Wi Fi extender, that might work, if you can get to connect (but that might not be trouble free).
Prob isn't Deeper, its Wi Fi spec or more power issues. Deeper will have, what it as, whatever receiver is used.
Are there cheap RF boats that have decent range, that are not Baitboats (if banned, or boats not used as Baitboats).

Not sure about 150 yds ,but keeping you tablet as high as you can from the ground will increase distance

I've seen a video (I think in German) that shows a guy massively increasing the range of the deeper by wiring in a booster/repeater. Obviously for a bait boat, probably tricky to cast!
Has anyone messed around trying to increase the range when using a boat? I mean apart for the usual having your device up high and turning of data etc.

Another one Deeper recommend with iOS is to switch off 'WiFi assist', not sure if it makes any difference yet though

A friend who has a deeper pro plus on a bait boat gets 120yards when he stands on a bank behind the the lake with the phone and remote and it is intermitant at this range.
Which shows the power is there but not maybe the transmitant pattern for the antenna.
Not sure what antenna is used in this type of device just remembering my HF mast/anteena experience. With di poles or yaggis and the side lobes.

Yeah same here but I was stood in the lake with tall trees behind me, hope they haven't screwed it up with the latest firmware update

I don't have the deeper pro but I have the lucky laker WIFI (cheap Chinese alternative) and I use a WIFI extender/repeater that I bought off eBay for about £7. Plug it into a power pack and it sit it between your phone or iPad and it transmits way over 100m. Worth a look.

That's interesting - I hadn't considered that it would be the phone wifi antenna which is the limiting factor rather than the one in the Deeper.

To be fair, it's the overall distance of the WIFI device from each other. The repeater extends the operating range between the two. Look up Mi WiFi Repeater 2. You can get them on eBay or amazon and for the cost of them it's worth ago. It works on my lucky laker and I have now been able to attach it to my bait boat to use the sonar at range
