Hi Chaps,
Anyone know if theres many carp in the Grand Union Canal behind the Walkers Stadium and gas works. Theres abit where the river soar comes into the canal and was wondering if I should give it a go. Im gonna pike fish it through the winter but wondering wether to carp it when the weather warms up again.

Hmmm, Pike fished it today and had nothing. Theres a spot on the backwater bit that ya can get a bivvy up on and a lad who fishes it abit told us there are carp in there hes seen one 16lb out the basin on the river. I dont know if it would be safe night fishing it though as it looks abit rough down there.

Well apparantly no1 ballifs it I just went down there on sunday for a few hours pikin might do again somtime but I wont fish it regually.

Had a go for pike my self , had a 18lb pike on the top of the weir behind footy ground '' spinning '' also a few jacks in back water.
Carp ! .. not sure ...... although sister in law does canooing up and down the strights , and has told me stories of fish in the margins in summer ,that in her words '' Massive, o my god , huge '' ..... Must be carp.
Was a peice in angling times about 4 year or so ago '''' Dont know if any body remembers'' Chap with a 40lb common also a 20lb mirror .
from the strights behind walkers.
I suppose still very uncharted teritory ....... due to weird odd bods that lurk that way at night .

A 40lb from the straights! Bloody hell! Yea it doesnt seem or look very safe down there. I suggested night fishin it to my mate n he said nah I wouldnt feel safe or enjoy it.

Well its the canal aint it behind the stadium/ the straights. Nah it just aint the type of place where ya wud wanna night fish alot of beer cans and rubbish round as if to say there ave been loads of weirdos fishin down there.

I'd fish it when City are playing at home guaranteed to be quiet, inside and outside the stadium. 
I had a stroll along the canal spinning with no luck but completely missed out the city ground, there are some new bouyes along that stretch to stop the boats going down the weir. I have seen large carp and tench in the weirpool at the city ground but this was some time ago. if fishing the river basin or the weir be carefull of the power lines!!!!
