Any alternatives to using putty when fishing with chod rigs? The crays have been pulling apart the putty, so I am scratching my head as to what to do to ensure my crushed corks are staying on the deck.
Would babybel wax suffice? Or am I just going to have to keep checking the putty?

If the crays are bad anything with tungsten in will get chewed and messed about with. Can you not use lead core to hold the chod rig down? Just be careful not to get any bait or glug on the lead core or they'll chew that up too!
They will also walk down a chod rig to get at a bait if they are attracted to it. I give in and use plastics if they are really and, even though I'd rather use a decent hook bait.

These are the best I've found if your mounting a weight on the swivel. Although I probably go against the grain and put my weight (esp tungsten beads) Over the crimp on hooklink, tight against the ring on my stiff hinges. That way I know my pop up will always be popped up even after losing buoyancy. Obviously if you're using a traditional chod with a heli setup the nash beads are the one. Haven't used Putty for many a year.

The crays are a nightmare on the water I fish, iv been using the stiff hinge rig crimping the hook section and with 1 of the esp medium size fake pop ups and a size 5 stiff rigger it balances perfect without putty
