I've just had some Sonik Cam Lok bank sticks delivered, I must say I am very disappointed and they'll be going back. The male section is too small for it to lock properly

Having never bought a Sonik product before, is this to be what to expect of their gear?

I have used most banksticks makes in the past and bought some AVID LOK DOWN BANK STICKS
and I think they are the best out there rock solid and dont slip
the cam loc is different to say the Fox ones in the fact it clamps all the way round as opposed to just a small section

AND !! even better its adjustable for future wear you just adjust the clamp bolt they dont slip ever if you keep them adjusted they are in a class of their own IMHO

I've got a Sonik Specimen Quiver and Five Sleeve System that I bought over 10 years ago.

This one is the modern equivalent but mine is basically the same:-

It's a great bit of kit, still going strong and looks as good as new.

No idea if their more recent gear is of the same standard though?

There's nothing wrong with their Landing Nets – I got 15 Sonik Varder X ones when they came out (5-6 years ago?) all are still going strong after constant daily use all year round at the lakes.

I use an AXS Bivvy over winter; it's been faultless, mate uses a Sonic Supa Dome Brolly from when Sonic started – no issues at all.

Also have 3 x Sonic 8ft 3.5tc Insurgence Rods I use for Predator fishing, I've had fish to almost 50lb on them, no problems at all - which surprised me with being telescopic and the fact I use small Multipliers loaded with 40lb Braid, so the Rod's up-side-down when playing fish!

Their carp rods are shocking,seen more than any other make snap at the tip.The lad I know seemed to like them so kept sticking with them,had at least 4 tip sections go that I know of.

I've had 2 sets ,plus a spod rod. Never broken them, never had anything fail on them whatsoever. They were absolutely faultless and I still use the spod rod to this day. Even had cats to over 60lb on one set. User error if the same lad kept breaking them I'm sure

No idea then, all I can say is I used and abused mine for years and never had anything go wrong, if they were as terrible as you claim then I'm sure I would have

I have 5 Sonik Tournos 6000 reels and 3 Sonik Tournous 8000 reels and they have to be the best reels that I have ever used since my Mitchell 300 reels back in the 60's and 70's. Been using them for at least 5 years with no issues and good as new. But, time will tell

Also. like myself and many others on here, highly reccommend the Sonik Vader rod pods.

I also bought some longer Sonik 16mm diameter banksticks to fit the rod pod but they are different and have the same locking clamp as the ones with the pod and I find them faultless.

Their bankware is piss poor, as you say, doesn't lock at all.

On the whole though Sonik tend to be decent for the money

Looks like I'll have to be a bit less tight with my money and get some more Nash or Fox sticks

Hi Crag sounds like the ones you picked up needed a slight adjustment takes seconds
As trust me Avid ones dont slip !!!!

if you correctly adjust the the pinch bolt !!

this is brilliant as it future proofs them as if they wear you simply adjust the pinch bolt to take up the wear

I put my full 17 stone at the time I bought them and could not make them slip ! I also used the 48" ones down the river over 2 seasons and they do not slip
and the reason they dont slip is the clamp grips all the way round UNLIKE others that only clamp on one small spot

I have had Nash , Fox ,chub and JRC and Avid are miles better

I'm not criticising your verdict, but everyone on the rack in all lengths slipped, and didn't see or know they could be adjusted.
I'm not expecting to force them into the ground without them collapsing, but expect better grip than what I'm seeing.
The Avid were better than the Sonik, but not by a lot

if you didnt know you adjust the clamp when you first buy it no wonder the ones people play with in a shop go out of adjustment and slip FFS ?

BUT DONT take my word for it SIMPLY use your eyes !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, checked out the avid ones in my local shop, as I'm looking to replace my heavy sticks.
V positive locking system, no slip or movement on any I tried, and yes the sonik ones were rubbish.

Just noticed that the Avid sticks are exactly the same diameter as the buzzer bar posts supplied with my Fox rodpod (can't remember the model). Which makes them even better!
