Hi Chaps

Just wondered if anyone has bought one of these and it's worked ?

I've recently got one for a Canon 6d Mk2 and it doesn't take a photo when pressed down. It goes to focus and then nothing. It's set in auto focus mode both camera and lens. Are there any other settings that need to be changed to be able to use this ?

Any advice would be great otherwise they've said to send it back and as they said they're plug and play and may not be compatible although they state it is.

I use one on my 600d i didnt have to do anything to make it work

My focus settings are on live view shoot enable, AF mode is on live mode, i vaguely remember having a similar issue to yours but when my camera button was pressed thats when i changed the af mode to live mode

Do you have to hold it at a half press till you get a focus tone?

Ive had 2 of them over the years and loved them, out of interest did you get the right version - S2?

Shouldnt have to do anything, as others have said just plug and play

Ive alway just done a full press with my knee, you can hear the audible beep on the camera for autofocus before it fires so dont appear to have to do a half press

Yeah S2 model. Just doesn't want to engage the shutter. They sent me another adapter thinking this could be the case but it still won't engage the shutter.

It's literally just a switch in the pedal so maybe that's faulty. Looks like I'll be sending it back.

Yeah I've used a custom made one before for my 600d and just hold and fires straight away.

I'll check the settings but they said single shot and AF mode is all that's required

No mate 60 & 70d - I have the S1, brilliant bit of kit (if they are working)

Hope you manage to get it sorted, hopefully a replacement will fix the issue.

No i dont have to hold it at half press to focus, as smithy says full press you hear it focus then it fires

Yeah seems the S2 might not be so good then. Maybe it the fact it has an adapter fitted rather than straight flex to camera. I'll send it back

They just said send it back for refund as may not be compatible after all.

Thats a shame mate, could always go for an old fashioned air bulb release? I awlays used these before the pedals come around.

Just get an intervalometer, way less hassle.

Got one custom made for half the price. Dead easy to do and costs about £11 online for the wire and pedal. So for those out there wishing to use one that actually works just buy the compatible wire and pedal online, solder two wires and you're away 👍🏻

Thats what I use...works perfect in combo with my 5100 Nikon.
Set it on autofocus, take a shot. Switch to manual.
5 sec timer, and 3 shots taken.
The camera holds the focus setting that way.
