I'm after a cheap suit for the winter and the Prologic Highgrade thermal would appear to fit the bill. Not sure on what size to get though, I'm 5'9" but weigh in at (cough, cough) 16stone with a 40-42" waist - guessing I'm going to need the XXL to fit the gut in but not sure if will swamp me. Anyone got one and could comment on how it fits?

I bought this suit from recommendation on here but tbh I wouldn't buy. One again the bib and brace are very uncomfortable it's like walking around with a quilt wrapped round your legs the suit is heavy feel like michelin man in it and it's only shower proof it's a cheap suit I would look elsewhere pay more money tbh

ok fair enough you dont like a suit that you can sit in sub zero temps and not get cold as it is quite heavy but small price to pay not to get cold OR wet you say its only showerproor that SIMPLY IS NOT TRUE !!
everytime this suit gets mention you slag it off but its the first time you mention its not waterproof how strange
FFS its 100% waterproof with a 8,000 HH

I have been using one of these suits as have lots of Forum members FOR MANY YEARS with zero problems I put a link at the bottom

everyone is entitled to an opinion BUT DONT LIE and state its only shower proof ??? !!!!

its a Suit that you would not want to walk pushing a barrow to far but if you want a top quality very well made suit that will keep you WARM while sitting in a bitter cold windy frosty day and a 100% dry the now heavily discounted The PROLOGIC Highgrade Thermo Suit pisses all over other suits costing double the money
apparently these suits originally were made for the Norwegian fishing industry

The reason I didn't mention it's shower proof before as I only found out at the weekend when reading an advert for it I was surprised as I always thought it was waterproof tbh maybe they got it wrong not a case of lying just giving my feedback I will try and find the advert for it and post it up

I still own the jacket never been in rain so I wouldn't know. If it's waterproof it's just what I read probably a mistake maybe wrong picture for description of item as I said I was SURPRISED so Jim sorry I made a mistake it's waterproof but a wouldn't buy one again

Thanks for the feedback, not too bothered about the suit being bulky as it will only be for when I've settled down so won't be moving about too much in it (at the rate I catch there's no danger of me being overly active!)
Was surprised when you said it wasn't waterproof, with a 8000HH it's higher rated than a lot of bivvys so I'm going to put that down to an error on the advert
I'm still going to go for one but could really do without the faff of having to send one back so if anyone else wants to chip in about sizing please do

Thanks Gerry, seen that chart but makes no sense to me! Not sure if they've got the 1/2 waist measurements round the wrong way as would have thought the stretched should have been bigger than the relaxed?
Although by my reckoning a 1/2 waist of 60cm equates to a 47" in old money, so may be about right for me allowing for something to be worn underneath

I know full well it's waterproof as I get clammy in the bib n brace. have to wear just merino leggings under. and can only put on once static. I'm the same in anything waterproof. that's why I won't buy any insulated waterproof winter coat.
has to be a snugpak softie with a Goretex shell if absolutely necessary.

I recently got the suit, the sizing is very generous braces have an elasticated centre to give quite a bit of extra room. Im 6'3 and managed to fit in a large!

Just a heads up but you can get Gooutdoors to price beat Taskers Angling, makes the suit £71.

You can check on line,add your size to the basket and select collection.It will then ask you for your postcode and find your nearest stores and which have stock to collect that day or in 3-5 days.The one that shows you can collect same day obviously has stock in for you to go try on

Took a chance an ordered the XXL from GoOutdoors and it arrived today. Have to say first impressions are great, suit does have some bulk but doesn't appear to restrict movement and can imagine it's going to be plenty warm enough. Might have squeezed into an XL but the jacket would have probably felt a bit snug. The trousers are roomier and a little long but will be fine with some boots on.

I have been using this suit for many many years

the previous version lasted so long in the end I outgrew it !
when I retired from work and put weight on I got the version you have now I have fished in torrential rain and the coldest of conditions here and in Europe and never EVER had water come thru and never ever been cold I have banged on about these suits for years proper quality

but they are nothing like the snugpak !!!!!!!!! as apparently they were originally made by SVENSEN for the Norwegian fishing industry
