How do these work? You just stick a bag in it? Are the bags able to take wee/liquid in them aswell as poo? Then you just throw the bag in a bin? Are they a hygienic thing to use? I'm thinking of getting one..

Got exactly that one. I use Disposa Jon camping toilet bog bag. There is a black bag attached to the inside of the outer silver bag. Simply lift out black bag, place in and around toilet and then after a dump simply put in the silver bag and seal. Great and simple bags to use. Yes, you can pee in them too as they've a gelling powder in too. If you find it's not enough you can buy a separate tub of gelling powder.

I would get the ones Tazi recommended,brilliant bags.I bought them after being recommended them on here and they are superb.I had mine from Johnsons of Leeds,they are showing out of stock but give them a call as they are getting deliveries of them all the time

Bran q look good using bags sounds a lot better I had the thetford chemical toilet for camping horrible things you can smell the chemicals all the time and emptying it was not very nice and put it in garden and hose it out after every trip so don't be tempted to get one

Have got the Thetford 365. Didn't want to be putting bags of crap in my household waste. Easy to use, easy to empty and easy to clean. Tank is sealed except in use so I have not had a problem with odours. Comfortable, simple and hygienic. Bag systems are smaller and lighter but I like to enjoy a good crap, not hunched up with my knees around my ears with no room for the paperwork. Each to their own.

As said each to there own I found the thetford horrible things only got one as toilet blocks where closed due to COVID soon as they reopened sold it at least with the bag one you can get rid of waste straight away thetford it's just sitting there till you leave and the smell of the chemicals is when you flush

Spot on, hence the need for an alternative. Don't use it on all fisheries, some have great facilities including fresh water. There are a lot that don't (and still charge full whack) and portaloos with crap, flies and stink (especially in this weather) everywhere are, if you pardon the pun, not my bag.

I also got a bivvy loo. altough is more expensive but the way it compacts down was really what made me buy it. and to be honest,one of the best buys I had

What's wrong with the old black bin liner in a bucket for emergency calls of nature?
To those users of bivvy loos and similar. When you arrive home with half a dozen or more bags of crap and jellified pee does it just go in your household waste or is there a composting alternative. I believe some of the bags and gels are sold as compostable.

Think I'll stick to my Thetford and put my waste down the toilet.
Can see the attraction of light weight/smaller pack size but comfort and disposal win out for me.

I just put my tightly knotted black bin bags in the hooded bins in the KFC and McDonalds drive through car park on the way home.

I use the bivvy loo bags then have got some cat litter bags to put that in, they don't release any smell so are fine to take bag with you. Don't know how but there brilliant
