has anyone got any current info on travelling to france for a fishing trip.
the way i understand it you can not take bait or food
you need a PCR test 72 hours before travel and 48 hours after return.
if anyone has any recent details please share

Correct as long as you are double vaccinated and come back after the 19th. Tons of info already in the other thread
Oh and a test before you leave France

Some EU countries aren't allowing people to travel if they have had Indian-made dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca batch numbers 4120Z001, 4120Z002 4120Z003 and 4120Z004 France is one of the countries

Will just be a day 2 test unless things change again and, you need to book it before you return otherwise you can't complete the passenger locator form

The problem is the version from those batches were produced in India under the name of covershield. The WHO approved it but its not been approved by the EU. France have yet to budge on it I believe Germany will now accept it

I had one of those batches and got into France without issue at the weekend. The French customs mainly wanted to see my negative test before travelling. I uploaded everything before travelling too.

We are all pissed off with the uncertainty of not going, and for some the almost certainty that they won't be going.
The governments made covid mistakes last year, and has made another mistake this year with the Indian variant, that's why I think they are being over cautious with this Beta variant from France. With 50,000 of mostly Indian variant, they won't the gamble of it being replaced by 50,000 of the Beta variant.
To make things easier and to put us out of misery, maybe it would be better if the French stopped us from coming, if I was the French I think that's what I'd be thinking.

I got a trip in September that I booked in 2019. I'm not booking another until like Wayne says, this traffic light system ends, can't even be certain then but that's what I'm doing.

Trips I booked were booked before COVID was even a thing. Then trips postponed and moved to this year and next and so far only one of four has taken place
Maybe think before mentioning people being foolish, I'd call it unlucky and just one of those things. I haven't been foolish enough to book any additional trips that's for sure!

Last year we said to customs we've just been to Germany

I had my passport stamped by French customs a few weeks ago. I'm guessing as we are now outside the EU that will happen. That would likely mean the Germans would do the same if you crossed their border making it evidenced.

It is anticipated that the need to isolate after returning from France will end in the next week or so. If that is the case the only issue will be a tests before leaving and before returning. After all that we have put up with for the past 18 months then if that does happen travel will be relatively easy.

Is there a need for a test before leaving?
France allows double vaccinated to enter without tests already.
Looking hopeful for our trip out in October

I don't think the UK will lift the quarentine on French travellers.... infact I think they'll increase the list to include Spain. Hope I'm wrong.

Wait and see what the Government announce on Thursday. If quarantine is no longer needed for travelers from France then you will be OK.

Evening all,
Got a trip booked for 10th September for 4 of us , which has been cancelled 3 times already, is the below correct as I know there has been so many changes
You can travel to france as long as double jabbed and can show proof
Before returning to England you need a pcr test 72 hours before travel
Once back in England you need do a test on day 2 and day 8 and both need to be pre booked before initial travel and show proof
Is the above correct as its doing my nut in lol

Have a look at the Eurotunnel website. They have been very good at setting out the requirements in place and always bang up to date.
You don't need to be travelling with them to read their guidance.

Anyone got experience of the 2 & 8 days tests. Are they mandated - how? Cost? What you have to do with any of the results, etc?

Correct...... can also have an antigenic test in France for coming home
Titty have a look in the other thread, loads of links in there
In short, you need day 2 and 8 booked before you fill in your passenger locator form for return to England. Yes mandated, has to be from a government approved provider of which there is a list on gov.uk and they provide a reference for you to put on the locator form. Price varies on location and home or walk in etc. No need to do anything with the results, 10 day isolation can only finish after you have a negative result from the day 8 test (but must still be the full 10 days)

Thanks mate. I guess the situation remains very tentative. I'm due to travel 1st week of Sept - had both jabs & self isolation is not a problem as I can work from home. Appreciate not everyone is like this.
The once returned ‘2 & 8 day testing' seems to be for France only (Amber Plus) whereas Amber countries is just a 2 day test. All could change come this Thursday?

Correct..... Was a last minute creation of the plus group just for france. I went fully expecting the quarantine and day 8 test to be scrapped and then it never changed..... Oh well, so it is, my last day of isolation today as long as the result comes back negative tomorrow
Yes could change indeed, fingers crossed as I fancy popping back

Just done both and you do nothing with the results. I was phoned at 3 every day by the NHS police but other than that no problems. Cost was around £80 for the pair. You can pay around the same for a day 5 early release if you get a negative day 2 test.
The_Andyman pretty much covers it in his reply. I had a test at the local pharmacy for 25 euros to get home which you upload to your eurotunnel booking.

Have there been any issues with the early Indian manufactured vaccinations, this was all mentioned a month or so ago, nothing really mentioned since? Has anyone encountered any issues that has had one of the batches referenced?

I had one of these batches, no problem getting into France almost 4 weeks ago, but since then I believe the government announced that it was an admin mistake or something. Shouldn't be any issues at all
