Looking for a pair of rods, I will be using them on small ish lakes, max cast 60-70 yards maybe with a small bag, max of a 3oz lead, mostly 2.5oz leads, looking to spend £200 -£250 for a pair new or second hand, been looking at free spirit ctx in 2.75 tc, anyone got reviews on this rod or any others you would recommend ?

I'm in this situation too. I will probably end up with some Tacklebox CFX as they have been recommended. A few on here seem to rate them well too. They come in a few different tc and handle options.

Price of the Cfx is good, I asked for extra custom build: Full cork handle above reel holder no cork but metal stop ring and 7 eyes, Price for a 2 set £ 315.00

I've just upgraded my free spirit ctx I can highly recommend them though and they are in your price range, great rods

I've already got some 10ft rods mate free spirit bank creepers, the lakes I'm going to be fishing are from stagings and there are reeds either side of the pegs so just want that extra length on the rod to combat that. Just looking for a nice rod to play fish on really, been looking at second hand ctx or maybe century ng.

i used some ctx rods when mark hutchinson was demo'ing them at a social
I was very impressed with the range and the price
i use torrix and century c2d's and wondered why i spent so much if im honest

Over the years I've owned and subsequently sold many manufacturers rods with varying TC's but always come back to the same rods and they are my beloved Century FBS's at 2.75TC.
As most will or have said you need to find what's right for you, in my pursuit of the perfect rod I've sadly spent a fortune and been mugged off with the latest and greatest design or build standard when all I really wanted was hung in the loft, quietly awaiting my return, teasing me with their sleek beauty, parabolic curves and super slim figure.
Until now I do believe I've come to my senses, at the ripe old age of 59 the stark truth has come home to roost, there is no perfection, no holy grail in rod design, sure there are good and bad, however in the end there is just what we as individuals prefer, we are a fickle lot!

Do you know how long ago it was when they changed blanks mate ? Thinking of getting some second hand just don't know when they changed and how to tell the difference.

Wouldn't buy freespirit i had a set of eclass golds. All the rings rusted. Swapped to fox horizon x, had them 4 years, great rods.
Absolutely love my Harrison treb lights but they are a bit big for my current water in 13ft.. maybe next year 🙂
