Afternoon chaps,

Do any of you know where I can get me hands on a proper milk protein pop up mix that is actually attractive instead of the 50/50 mixes with glass balls that I keep getting!? The old aa one was good but seems different these days.

Any suggestions would be great

Mike.

Think the only way to ensure you have or know what is a proper milk protein pop up mix is to make it yourself from scratch, that way you control the variables.
No one really goes large on marketing the milk proteins these days, because of spirialling costs.

That's a shame. Well I guess my next question is; any ideas on a recipe so I can cost up the ingredients?

British Aqua Feeds pop up mix is based around refined milks according to the description. It also happens to be very useable too.

Thanks for your input butt banger. Is this mix buoyant enough to hold up a chod rig when rolled into a 15mm pop up?

I couldn't tell you I'm afraid - do a search on here as there's plenty of praise for that mix and some of the guys may have used it on chods.

Shilhams Chod Mix is by far the best I've used

Can someone tell me if the BAF pop-up mix baits, once thoroughly dried, need to be frozen or can they be stored in tubs like shop bought popups?

Thanks

No pop up mix has any food value.

John bakers super milk or any other decent base mix and cork balls would be the only way to do it properly.

To be fair I have not used the BAF it's meant to be the best and at the price it should be which again begs the question if actually worthy when alternative methods are cheaper and you can have an identical matching pop up to your freebies.

No cork balls needed with the BAF popup mix.

I use about 55g of mix with one egg plus flavour, which makes over 100 baits. One big advantage is that you can make different size baits, guaranteeing you'll be able to find one with the required level of bouyancy.

That depends on the water. I wouldn't fancy my chances of having much bait left on a cork ball on some of my waters. One is full of crayfish. The other has huge numbers of diving birds. I love cork balls but there is definitely a place for a hard airball.

It's easily bouyant enough. I've been adding a fair amount of additional powders to mine and they still stay popped up for 24 hours with no issues.
