Has anyone used the defiant mps 6ft carbon landing net handle?
I have been toying with the idea of making a 'DIY' landing net of fifferent components as a bit of a project.
I was planning a torix handle, top notch block and some free spirit arms. However intrigued by this handle and imagine it'll be top notch coming from defiant and is beey reasonably priced at £50.

Think they must be new, as you say all Keith stuff is built to last. The extendable is under 5ft though.

I assumed I'd just never looked on that bit of the website before. I have a few defiant bits (fantail and swingers) and can't imagine him making a rubbish item. It's wrong but the low(ish) price is the only thing that puts me off! Seems too reasonable to be brilliant!
I was looking at the 6ft version listed beneath the extendable on the website rather than the extendable.

It sounds good and i know from experience his stuff is bob on, cant see if this comes with a spreader block?
I'd be interested in a Titanium block and a 3ft handle too.

There are no spreader blocks - just the poles with female screw thread attachment.
Keith appears to have added them in the last few weeks.

i have seen the pole it is very light an appears very strong and stiff, the top and bottom fittings are made from titanium, but like already said doesn't have spreader block

I cant compare to other top end ones as i haven't used any recent ones, the poles ive been using are old north westerns carbon and fibre glass poles, it is lighter than the north western carbon pole and slightly stiffer.
I have only picked the pole up while it was attached to fibreglass arms and net, i haven't had the net in the water.
Stuart i haven't seen the extending version so don't know how it locks

I am tempted to get the 6 tf pole.
It's very light and will bring the weight of my landing net down to 550 grams. (North Western arms and gardner mesh)
That's only 20 grams heavier than the dymag.

Yeah I'm thinking of getting the defiant pole, top notch spreader, not sure on which arms would be best to use though.

The top notch spreader weighs 6 ounces, what's the point of a lightweight pole and then sticking 6 ounces out on the end of a 6 feet fulcrum?

It would be helpful if Kieth was to post on this thread, bit of info on the pole and if he can offer Titanium block's, he's no doubt read the thread.

There is a certain irony in matching a Defiant pole to a Top Notch spreader block that has nothing to do with weight imbalance.

I would love to make one, I even have a tried and tested Quick Release Spreader Block I designed over 10 years ago, that actually works and it 100% reliable and built to last in Titanium.
Problem is - I'm just to busy and maxxed out with work to add anything else to the already over-burdening work load.
Someone who I made a Pole for the other week asked me "Which Spreader Block would you recommend?" Did not have to think about the answer - they are all crap, never seen a well thought out well built one to this day.
But for a basic well made one for now - Andy Bull (Weston Dev.) Andy does not make crap
~ Remembered one - the Original Solar Bow lock one was pretty good
