Hi all, Im hoping I can get your view on the Fox R Series 2 man XL. Im an experienced angler but havent been on serious night fishing trips since I was in my teens and twenties (Im now in my forties).
Im looking to buy the R Series 2 man XL for my own use when solo night fishing at local fisheries but I also so I have the option to can take my daughter fishing when the weather is good. She enjoys it and we will be using it alot for this aswell so it wont just be a one off.
Question is this... Is the 2 man XL version too big for a solo trip and is the 1 man version big enough for a large person and a child (age is 12) or do I go for the 2 man XL and use if for both my solo trips and family fishing trips?
Also, side question, does the 2 man XL version fit on most night fishing pegs ok or is it just too big for everything?

I guessing you have watched all the You tube videos .
Im know the 2 man would be a bit big for a lot of swims especially the ones I fish , but an alternative maybe the 1 man XL...... plus the wrap for when you daughter goes giving you more space , I can see this option working giving you the best of both worlds then.

Thanks, the size is what Im worried about. Youre right, I have watched alot of YT vids and you cant really judge the size on there. The 2XL doesnt look too big to me but Ive never seen it in real life.
Do Carp anglers buy two man bivvies for duo trips and also use them for solo fishing? I cant really justify an additional £400 for a one man just for me aswell.

I have read somewhere that the 2 man due to its size is awkward to erect ,but everyone is different .
I personally would go 1 man plus the wrap as this will extend the bivvy some 18 inches I guess, but you still have the door and vent options ,just roll and tie back the bivvy front to gain extra overall room ,wraps take about 2 mins to put on .
Whilst on your own the 1 man should fit most swims .

Hopefully this link should give you a picture of the footprint of the 1 man , without the wrap though , im guessing add another 45 cm to the front for the wrap

I actually ended up buying BOTH the one man and two man Fox R-Series XL (to considerable cost) and I can say this...
As much as the two man is a very generous size bivvy it isnt too big for a fishery that encourages night fishing, Ive managed to fit it onto medium sized pegs without issue. I wouldnt use it for a day fishery that isnt used to night anglers though. Im sure you know what I mean by this.
The one man version is no where near big enough to accommodate my bedchair and a 12 y/o child as well as store away my fishing bags etc. I would say the one man versions footprint is no bigger than a normal one man bivvy with the only exception being its height because of the increased headroom.
So in summary and alot of cost (as I had to buy both to find this out) the one man is for one person (surprise surprise) and the two man, even though it is very roomy, isnt so big its ridiculous.
Also, I can erect both sizes without issue on my own however the two man takes a little longer.
On a side note, they are really really good bivvies, well made. I recently used the two man in a thunder storm and it held up very well.

If you are having trouble getting the poles apart put a bit of candle wax on the joints and twist the poles so they form a wavy line before you start pulling. It worked for me on the one man anyway

Glad your enjoying the bivvy/s mate. I took the plunge and bought one the other day, a 1 man and wrap. Looks good from setting up in garden.
As you say, although tall, it's not massive. It does look a bit more roomy than my Cyprinus M4 though, which is a great of kit in many ways, but is a bit too low for me.
I thought it was a nightmare to dismantle though, no wiggle room on the final pole. Maybe needs a bit of candle wax before i go fishing.

This video helped me break down my bivvy faster, I have the Trakker slx v3 and I can now break it down in less than 3 minutes for the nash double top mk4 2man I had needed min5 min, i will never buy a bivvy again with a 4 rib system 3 rib system is so much faster to set up / break down

Thanks for your advice, will try the candle wax ,
just watched this video and it answers my questions I was doing one pole at time and not folding them in and thats why they were locking back together, will give this a try when im next out many thanks .

1 man can also be a pain, 3 ribs bivvy"s is the way to go insteed of 4 ribs also inner dome make it harder to take a bivvy down
