I keep coming back to the Korda stuff with a braid leader. I find I get less wind knots than with Powerpro and eBay cheap Chinese stuff. It's expensive though

I normally use the fox one it's been fine for me just wondering if there was anything better

I like the Korda stuff as well, never needs wetting which is a plus.. Also have some Daiwa J Braid x8 that came highly recommended, haven't used it yet though

For spodding why not a cheap chinese braid in 50lb ish from ebay?

Another vote for the Daiwa J braid x8. The Daiwa 8 braid evo tournament is even better as it's only .14mm at 22.4lb but is twice the price! .........50lb Whiplash shock leader as standard!

35lb mono leader with 30lb powerpro.
I don't think I have had a wind knot in the last 10 years using powerpro on my reels. The secret is to underfil your spools (compared to mono) as the thinner diameter means you get less friction on the spool lip but enough to slow the line down to prevent them.
the mono leader add's just enough elasticity to help on the cast / when it hits the clip too.

40lb whiplash with 40lb mono leader. Used it for years without issues

I don't understand why anyone would pay £20+ for braid when you can get it for less than £5 ???????
I have only used cheap unbranded ebay stuff and had no problems that have been mentioned.
It's half the price we pay in shops abroad, we just get loads of carp tax added.

The post was about ‘distance' braid. For distance it obviously needs to be as thin as possible whilst retaining its strength. For anything upto 100yrds, cheap 50lb stuff straight through!

Spot on. I use the Kastking braid on eBay, £5 odd for 300m. Been using it for ages, no issues & just as good as the carp branded braid at 4 times the price

have found that 50lb braid can seriously cut down on casting distance. 30lb ftw! (even 20 with a shock leader)
