This... on the recommendation of various 'twitchers' I met over the years, I have been using some Opticron compacts which I have had for years. They are excellent, despite their age the image is still crisp and bright. I checked on their website & can't find the model I have but they have a number of different options available that might suit. Not cheap but the ones I have are excellent and I'm sure you'll find a model to suit.

I still have a pair of canon 8x23 binos I got in late 90s. They do me just fine. They have a clear and bright image. Best place to look and ask for reviews is bird watchers imo.

Thanks. Just seen they do Sahara in 25 + 32.

32 may be a happy medium... 👍🏽

Just picked up some Barr and Stroud Sahara as recommended on here (8x42)
But they are about twice the size of my previous ones / what I want really.
